I'm showcasing non-Commodore systems on the board again. But a pick-n-mix of chiptune cuttings, original hardware and 8-bit VSTi can blend to produce some fantastic sounds in minutes.

It's rare and hope to get my £112's worth by adding to my 'retro wall' for music ( download/file.php?id=583 ). I must be daft enough to qualify as a collector.



Not as if I can't do it for free. The Fusion emulator has a Game Genie section, with added trainer.

Way too much time on my hands probably.

Even with its own AV out, an original Master System is just too big for where I wanted to put it.

Looks like my fusebox when up like that. The unit's screwed to the wall firm enough but I had to tape the upper casing back on. The screwholes are on the underside.

Old phono cable ends were soldered to the board.

Something's wrong with my unit anyway. Composite video is faulty, so had to cross it with RGB blue to at least get black and white. (This now trips up the RF but I do get what I need.) Luckily, Master System 2's are cheap as chips if I want to change and it's handier to put extra components in some phono plugs.

I never thought I'd have room for one more.

One guy complained his room is too small for even a little Commodore. Almost no room is too small if you really must.

I can imagine '80s sampler owners raiding their younger brother's video games for a few fancy sounds.

Using my Action Replay to put me later in the game, I wondered how the hell I managed to get to the end of Sonic The Hedgehog as a kid. Once I only missed out on completing the game by two or three punches when I lost my last life. I was frustrated then but just bewildered now. Same with the Super Marios.

I assumed the Master System version maybe never got past production because it's so rare. And I even started to doubt the existence of its Game Genie until I saw codes for it online.

Maybe Sega Master System kids were too saintly to make the games easier.

The AR is handy for music, though I would have liked a Game Genie better. Emulators are more flexible but it's still good to collect another rare old piece for hardware which can often sound 'fruitier'. And I just wonder how other people haven't made presentations like this.

I'm going to have to say no thanks, unfortunately.

The original takes cards and has its own proper AV out. But it would be too wide for the Master System space, the only room I had left.

I'm very grateful for the offer though. Most appreciated.
