TDK chiptunes are back!

Post by madfiddler »

I've released two new chiptunes after 18 years of retirement, from the Amiga

The first is a 5 channel track called Delon Mezign, which is more of a traditional C64 sounding piece, and the second is a 4 channel track called Albino 2. This one is a chipified version of a synth track I wrote 6 years ago.

There's been a lot of debate as to what makes a chiptune and wht doesn't. I'm taking the view that it's based on the sound of the song, using the sound of the chip in question, rather than the limitations of the chip at that time. I'm still doing my best to keep limitations in mind, bet if you simply like the tune then... why not!

The plan is to build up enough tracks for a paid MP3 release, and some live shows where I stand around swinging my arms around for half an hour or so ;)

Really enjoying Delon mezign.. Really enjoying.. Good Job. ( though saying 'good job' to you seems a bit like shooting fish in a barrel heh ). It's a given..

Is this tune a progression of "chipmusic - Real or Fake"??

Hi Madfiddler. Just wanted to say that I find it very amusing that you have created a chiptune song called "Real or Fake" when there's a swedish pop band called Robot who has made the song "Fake or Real" using the SID-station.

You might wanna listen to it? I think both your song and theirs are great.

Now go about for a Wing Commander-Remake, will ya ? (damn, that would be awesome!) (maybe the Wing Commander Titeltheme in chipstyle? that would be even more awesome)

... but Wing Commander was only a conversion/arrangement for the Amiga. Nothing original by me... Just squeezing 24 midi channels into 4 allowing 200k for the samples ;)

So, the album is finished.... Chubby Chubby Chip Chip and Melon-Glo-Mania feature from the old days (there's more on the 2nd album, grin).

So if you fancy listening to 8bit noise after your nice Sunday Roast, then pay a visit here, as there's a listening party and launch on 8 Bit Power Hour on the 9th December :-

Hey up,

No idea why I didn't get notification, but there we go...

Paul, thanks mate - yeah, really enjoyed doing this. More to come I think, perhaps with a bit of madfiddler integration to keep you happy ;) Not gigging much, but will be chiptuning at Superbyte 2012 perhaps again with a bit of madfiddler...

Thanks a lot Chris, lol! ;)
