Robin Of The Wood WIP
Robin Of The Wood WIP
I'm currently working on Robin Of The Wood by Odin. Here is my rough demo WIP to give you an idea of how it sounds and the overall direction that the remix is taking.

Re: Robin Of The Wood WIP
I like the overall feel of the tune. Great for a WIP
Re: Robin Of The Wood WIP
Good work there Doddsy.
Re: Robin Of The Wood WIP
Thanks it's developing nicely. Not sure what to call the remix though. Any suggestions?
Was thinking Medieval Madness Mix.

That sound really nice. I don't like the tambourine throughout. I am missing some dynamicism/variation on it I guess. It sounds a bit stiff.
Check out my website.
Re: Robin Of The Wood WIP
i second that, what mordi said. the tamborine sounds really "to digital" to the rest. maybe some real shakers would work with a lot of varriations.
Re: Robin Of The Wood WIP
Thanks for the feedback guys. I've added a few more elements to it. I've upped the tempo like the original sid and added a choir to it. I agree that the tambourine does need more work. I'll record myself playing a real one so I'll see how it turns out.

The track is available to listen to and download. Thanks for all the nice comments. I think the project has been worth producing and it also gave me a great opportunity to try out my newly acquired Korg Symphony. I think it has a great sampled choir on it so check out if you are chasing for one to use in your remixes.

Korg Symphony? That sounds great...
Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?
Re: Robin Of The Wood WIP
Yes I've recently got one for my remixes. Was very cheap to buy under 50 quid. I got it for the choir sound.Chris Abbott wrote:Korg Symphony? That sounds great...
I've done a video over at youtube showcasing it's sounds.

Re: Robin Of The Wood WIP
For the money that's bloody fantastic. The only way to get such quality cheaper is to look for demo versions of things like Edirol Orchestral, if that's possible, or scan the magazine discs.
Hope to hear you banging out the demos with it. And between you and me, I think I'll be naughty and snatch a sample or two of that Korg.

Thanks Commie_user. I saw one on ebay a few weeks ago and when I researched it there wasn't a lot about it - apart from it being made famous by the choir sound that Vangelis used in a few of his early 90's albums. I thought I'd put the video together to give musicians an idea of the sound quality of this cheap module before it gets forgotton about! I know PCM sound samples are not the in thing these days but I'm sure with decent mixing and FX I'm sure any sound on this box will give users good results.
So far I've used it on Robin Of The Wood and recently I've updated my International Sports Challenge remix with it to give a fuller sound. I'm also planning to use that Organ 2 sound on a remix, I've got the style and the idea is there -it's just finding the right sid and besides I think I've swamped listeners enough lately with my remixes...
