Hardware:
Windows 7 64-Bit (8 GB RAM)
M-Audio Fast Track Pro (Audio Interface)
M-Audio Keystation 49e (Keyboard / Midi Controller)
Sennheiser HD 280 Pro (Headphones)

Software:
FL Studio v10
VSTi': Various included with FL Studio and many free ones, from keyboard magazines or online websites.

I also do have a hardware based audio gear, but they are in a dismantled state at the moment.

How do you like the Sennheisers? I've owned so many damn sets of headphones over the years and yet to find any that sound as good to my ears as my bog standard Sony monitor headphones.. although i did fork our for a nice retrostyle set the other day (Shoppers had a 60% markdown on them ) http://cdn.panasonic.com/dotAsset/f5d91 ... 394082.jpg

Always on the lookout for another set but refuse to feed the trough that is Dr Dre.. :x

Well initially it was the yellow Sony Walkman + the Sony headphones that came with them :)

In the late eighties / early nighties I was buying the $25 Sony earbuds, which was considered expensive at the time, but you couldnt beat the quality the wire on those would eventually stiffen 8-12 months of usage.

Once I got into recording music, I faced the same issue as I do know. I just dont have the environment to use speaker monitors, so I have to get some decent headphones.

Fell in love with the Sennheisers and the rest is history, for regular listening, I was buying the $50-$65 range from Future shop.

For the audio recording, I bought the HD 280's from Long and McQuade for $120 on sale, I did consider buying the AKG but those were double the price, and btw: you can get sheep skin headphones for $1500 but thats another topic (and know I dont know a pair)

Once you have a pair of nice headphones, do them justice by using either a headphone amp or something that has a headphone amp built into them, like the Fast Track Pro.

This post is already too long, wont get into it, but long story short, a headphone amp will drive the headphones better vs an MP3 player device of some kind, like iPhone etc..
