I just can't sit still and it's great having adventures with scrap again, improvising free studio equipment to avoid any more spending.
The Reading Association For The Blind threw away an easel and book stand this time, for some reason. So cue me grabbing them and taking them home to do something with them. Anything really.
The cello trolley sets the instrument at just the right height and stops it rolling over if I have to set it down. And I could also make a five-harmonica holder by putting them to a longer length of wood and attaching that to the easel.
That place has been good to me. I had their perfectly good music stand the other month.

And with a little adjustment of the VGA stand.....
And so unobtrusive.
Never overlook that roadside junk. You may save a whole host of money on wallet-busting stands, especially in combi.
And guess what can also hold a cymbal, with help from that doorway signpost Dawsons chucked away, ironically.
For what it all is, I'm astoundingly lucky. I've often found good sturdy stands can cost as much as whole pieces of gear. No wonder I flaunt 'em.

Re: LANDFILL SEQUEL: Bodge-It-Myself junkholders
You know, it's not even that. Stuff just falls in my lap and it's better than the Wombles.
Look at this. Going through my stuff I found another mike holder I forgot existed, made from a broken tripod.
I collected all those pipes and things and I still can't believe how so many bits fit together, as if made to measure. Especially the telly I mounted on that old DVD carousel base. I just have to post 'em.
I mean, look at it. I kept back this next pipe when my waterworks were being done. I'm sure I can stick something in it.
I'm probably going a bit peculiar with all this stand-mania. But it's all so good I keep forgetting to make an actual recording. Funky.

Yeah, it's easy for collecting to become a substitute for doing...
Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children?
Re: LANDFILL SEQUEL: Bodge-It-Myself junkholders
Is this a 'collection' or is this a working studio ?? Any production examples to share??

Re: LANDFILL SEQUEL: Bodge-It-Myself junkholders
Well I've had no major projects on the go lately, though I am enjoying some pretty good test sounds as I've been really fine tuning this place. So here's my record rack. Pick one and hear what you think.
EDITS THROUGH YEARS:
Newer project: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9705
Dream project: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10547
SID project: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10665
Savour the CR back catalogue. I'm piling it up over time....
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9492&start=90#p94450
Drum and harmonium experiment:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9492&p=95564#p95564
Oh, more drum fiddling:
Product of my music article on page 32: http://www.commodorefree.com/magazine/vol9/issue87.pdf
'Harpitar Hero': viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10512&p=96026#p96027
And the baby accordion I should twiddle with a whole lot more:
Nice instant piano theme tune:
The Commodore 64 organ, for something gothic in around 2007:
Sampleroony: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8315
Nylon harp and grandiose organ fiddle:
I completely forgot about this...
Oh yes, those nice-condition Commies:
And those Atari samples should have come in lovely handy:
And this sounds like a happy early-80s game tune:
Scrappy in nature but a happy little doodle pile:
Though I think an out of tune piano comes into its own:
...Done more substantially here:
Opening a brand new old game accessory.
And my last real project took in politics as well as a heavy drum and bass number.

Even so, I look forward to getting back into real projects again. And this place is now a real adventure playground, I've plenty more relationships to explore between the gear. And that can be a pleasant project in its own right.
