Amiga Power: The Album With Attitude
First there was Amiga Power.
Then there was no more of it.
Now, in the year of oh lord 2019, Amiga Power returns – in musical form!
Yes, really.
Launching next month on Kickstarter, it's Amiga Power: The Album With Attitude! A deluxe double-CD collection of more than 30 brand spanking new Commodore Amiga game remixes, all of them connected with the mightiest computer games magazine ever conceived by human beings, and featuring the tuneful talents of (in alphabetical order):
Andrew Barnabas; Phillip Blake; Alistair Bowness; Allister Brimble; Fabio Cicciarello; Mike Clarke; Fabian Del Priore; Adam Fothergill; Olof Gustafsson; Jogeir Liljedahl; Chris Jerden-Cooke; Carl Jermy; Joi; Jon Hare; Chris Huelsbeck; Barry Leitch; Alex May; Anthony Milas; Patrick Nevian; Jason Page; Instant Remedy; Brian Sadler; Matthias Steinwachs; Jeroen Tel; and Tim Wright.
It's all set to be really rather super, even if we say so ourselves.
More news will follow very soon indeed. In the meantime, you may wish to direct your peepers towards the following related web-places...

Re: Amiga Power: The Album With Attitude
Greetings, readers!
As promised, some further details about Amiga Power: The Album With Attitude will shortly be revealed. But first, a bit of an introduction.
My name, as you may have gathered, is Matthew Smith. I didn’t program Manic Miner (sorry), but I am a long-standing fan of AP. I started buying the magazine early in its life, way back in 1991, and I loved it immediately thanks to its mixture of incisive reviews, imaginative features and quirkily irreverent humour. I only grew to love it more as the years went on, and ultimately it was AP that inspired me to pursue the career in journalism and publishing that I’ve been enjoying for the past couple of decades.
A little while ago I was invited by a friend to work on an Amiga music project in the role of co-producer. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and found myself wanting to produce a similarly-themed project of my own, and it occurred to me that an Amiga Power tribute album would be just the ticket.
So, you may muse, how exactly is this going to work? Well, as mentioned previously, the album is going to consist of two CDs jam-packed with Amiga game music remixes, all with some special connection to AP. What sort of connection? Read on.
CD1: AP’s Pick Of The Pops
The first disc is going to contain remixes based on tunes personally nominated by former Amiga Power contributors.
CD2: The AP Bonus Coverdisk
The second disc, meanwhile, is going to feature tracks inspired by assorted games and demos that appeared on Amiga Power’s cover-mounted disks over the years.
Plus! The CDs are going to be accompanied by a special liner notes booklet featuring at least 80 pages of info about all the tracks and how they were selected for inclusion, along with song lyrics, behind-the-scenes trivia and written interjections from the AP crew.
I've been working on this project for a little over a year now, and pretty much everything is organised at this point. I've secured a licence from Future to use the Amiga Power name and logo, the CD manufacturing side of things is being handled by 010101 Music (the independent record label behind such ace albums as Paula Agnus Denise and Instant Remedy’s Insert Disk 2) and all the musicians mentioned previously are raring to go on the remixes. All we need now is the funding to produce everything, and to this end I’ll be launching a Kickstarter campaign early next month.
Stay tuned for additional updates, including more info on the contents of both CDs and the many and varied bonus perks that will be available to Kickstarter supporters!

In other news, the thoroughly splendid Alec Foster was kind enough to interview me about the AP album for Vintage Is The New Old, and you can read the resulting feature right now via the link below. Hurrah!

A quick query for the admins here: Is there any possibility of getting a news piece about the AP album on the Remix64 homepage? It might help to alert more people to the forthcoming Kickstarter campaign, and any assistance in that regard would be immensely gratefully received!

Hello, all!
Work on the Amiga Power album continues unabated, and the Kickstarter homepage is very nearly ready for unveiling. For now, here's the album cover artwork, created by comics supremo Roger Langridge and featuring The Four Cyclists Of The Apocalypse brandishing their instruments of destruction.
More info to come soon!

Re: Amiga Power: The Album With Attitude
It's official – the Amiga Power album Kickstarter campaign will be launching on Friday, March 29th! And at last I can reveal just some of the numerous remixes that will be making an appearance on it. They include (deep breath)...
Apidya; Banshee; Blob; Cannon Fodder; The Chaos Engine; Fantasy World Dizzy; Fire & Ice; Gloom; Harlequin; Hired Guns; Jetstrike; Lotus Turbo Challenge 2; No Second Prize; Pinball Fantasies; Sensible World Of Soccer; Shadow Fighter; Speedball 2; Stardust; and oodles more, including a new rendition of the perennially splendid Valhalla tribute It's A Skull. In total, you'll be getting a whopping 35 tracks spread across the album's two CDs.
Also! There is now a dedicated AP album Facebook group. Do drop in if you happen to be passing; there will be tea and sticky buns.

Re: Amiga Power: The Album With Attitude
There's been some further Amiga Power album coverage in a couple of recent web-shows! Firstly it received another mention from the excellent chaps at Amigos Retro Gaming in their latest Everything Amiga podcast (from about the 24-minute mark), which can be viewed below...
Secondly, top bloke Amiga Bill of TheGuruMeditation was kind enough to give the album a shout-out in Sunday's edition of his Twitch show REPLAY (from 28:15), which you can see via the accompanying link. Hurrah!

With less than a week to go before the AP album Kickstarter campaign launches, it's time to share a remix preview with you all, courtesy of the extraordinary Brian Sadler (composer on Harry Partridge's spifftacular Starbarians series). As you'll discover, he's created a frankly fantastic orchestral arrangement of the theme from Banshee, as featured on one of AP's May 1994 coverdisks. Zounds, eh?

Re: Amiga Power: The Album With Attitude
As the AP album Kickstarter draws closer, here's an extra-special promo treat from the amazing Farook Shamsher of Joi. It's the first of three studio remixes that he and his late brother Haroon created back in 1993 while working on the soundtrack for The Chaos Engine.
The third of the tracks – nicknamed the Play With Me Mix – will be available exclusively on the Amiga Power album; and as a special bonus for everybody to enJoi, Farook has fantastically kindly agreed to allow Chaos Engine Remix 1 to be released for free on YouTube and SoundCloud. Hurrah!
As you'll discover, the SoundCloud version of the track includes a download link so you can nab a copy of the mp3. Hurrah 2!
