it's more likely that old ones will get bored and or fed up and will do something else.
cheers.

Simple reason: a lot of modern C64 classic demo tunes aren't less unknown or average, it's just that it's a different generation growing up with them. But nonetheless, it shouldn't stop US who liked the old tunes in the first place being open enough to try them out and think "hey, this is good."
After all our tastes in real music develop don't they? Sure, there's some classic artists we all like that we grew up with. But do we stop with those options and not try out new stuff? Course we don't.
If you get time, check out the likes of PRI and Vip (to name but two) in HVSC. You'll be surprised, I promise, and maybe even inspired.

I'm certainly a closet fan of Jeff, especially since I heard that kick-ass remix of Anal-ogue.

Yes, you're right. But: cos of my own philosophy doing a remix means a lot of effort, devotion and most of all TIME (someone with own business, family and even some other hobbies
has the least).
For me that means, you can't try a bit here or there and fumble around with some sounds, for me every remix has to be the main thing, the big deal, the best I've ever did.

Yes, I checked out PRI (good quality) and shogoon (did some really fantastic tunes). But there is still one difference between these sids and the ones from 85-87 by Hubbard and Galway: The former ones are still computer-music while the others are
history in my life, the cradle of my own musical career. And that's a BIG difference.
Please forgive me!
In the end it always comes back to this point.
Well, between musicians they say (literal translation)"Speak less about music, just make it". Often I think that's damn right

That was my hope, since many are so professional, they can
do anything if they set their mind to it.
...Well, that's exactly the point! Why should I remix (now being sarcastic) a more or less unknown average tootling computertune, when I'm able to create my own compositions?.....
yep, that's exactly my thought too...
@wazzaw
...and 'bout covering a mostly unkown sid, most of my c64 remixes are covered for the first time like:
R1D1, Demonic, Storm, Loopz, The Tube, Sigh of The Eye, Hunters Moon and some more....

Of course most like the tunes they remember/liked but I think some are open to being surprised. Even some remixers. I seem to remember Infamous saying something to that effect. Please correct me if I'm wrong, high chance.
I'm not a musician but I have been surprised a couple of times, notably with Drax. I think you'll find Fury to be a challenge.

Drax is a genious, just listen to his XM tunes at
http://www.maniacsofnoise.nl
He's only used Fasttracker II, and listen to his mastering!
All programming in FT2.
I never heard anyone come close to this!

I see the mon sites have been completely rewamped, nice. If you've not heard it I can highly recommend Letting Go by Jeroen Tel. Den er fed.
Nogle af mine Drax favouritter er You Better Believe, Revival og Light Years, men der er selvfølgeligt mange gode. (Goin off-topic and off-language, ahemn.
)

The ingame and titletunes from "Thunder Blade" rocks.
Mark Tait / Thunder_Blade / tune1 (the ingame music)
/ tune 3 (titletunes)
Come on, isn't it OBVIOUS!?!?

(Well, probably not - just my opinion...)
What about Tetris by Wally Beben?
Granted it's a bit epic in parts, and there's been at least one mix done already (THC Flatline - but it didn't go as far as it could...), but even the original had sampled guitars...
I'm sure there's a lot a talented chap like yourself could do with that baby!!!
