There is room for both sorts of remixes - authentic SID sounds and polished studio remixes.

Yes, I know, but of late there seems to have been a glut of filmic "scores" of variable quality, all of which smooth out the originals, whereas anybody using original SID sounds is pretty much vilified.

Only if they have done very little to the original (applies to the Amiga remixes as well).
