Well, if you're in Copenhagen I'm sure we can arrange a guided tour of RKO Headquarters.

How far's the venue from the airport? I have a sneaking suspicion I might try flying instead of driving

Manchester Airport is about 13 mile from the venue.
It will cost you in a taxi from the airport about £30 and takes around 20mins to the venue.

In September, say a week before the big day, if there is enough people flying into Manchester airport I can arrange for the local taxi firm to pick people up and bring them to the venue or hotel if you are staying the 2 days.
I think I could get a better than the normal price.
Plus they have mini buses - so if there is say 6 people,than it will cost each of you around £5 each.
This should help people who do not know Manchester, and should save them a few quid as well.

Ill be staying in the city for late night club japes for one of the nights, so Ill be getting a taxi I guess to the venue at some point

When you said "avenue" I thought you meant 5th avenue doh!

As Danceaway said, it's a fair trip. This is because the airport's to the south of the city, and the venue's to the north.

Your best bet is to get one of the Premier Travel Inns in Central Manchester and stay there over the weekend. If landing in Manchester Airport, the train and bus station is between terminals 1 and 2 via a walkway (well signposted from all arrivals halls). From the station, you can either get the train into Manchester Piccadilly station and then head to the hotel of choice, or take the 43 or 105 buses into Manchester Piccadilly bus station (both are very regular) - and then head to the hotel. Piccadilly bus station is a bit more central than the train station is.

Trying to balance the costs you see between the petrol to drive up there compared to flying in and then transport from airport to the venue.

Needless to say if anyone in the London area wants to go, then I might be available to take them there

(plus it would effectively half the petrol cost for me)

Given my approximate petrol calculations and the information the airport is that far away, then driving may well be the better option cost wise. Even though it'll take me almost 4 hours to get there as opposed to 1 on the plane!

True, though as I'd have no check-in luggage, then 40 mins before take off for check-in (pushing in a little perhaps, but if I get an electronic ticket, I can just do it in a machine and not have to queue) and only 20 mins to the airport (I'm fairly close to Heathrow).

Still, as said, if I find some lucky punter or two who doesn't mind a drive up, then it's quids in for the petrol costs.

Btw will someone put up a list of available accommodation in the area shortly?

Just for starters anyway...

I should add for those travelling by car the out of town Travel Inns, Travelodges etc will be miles better for parking and such like. Parking in Manchester City centre is a) frustrating and b) expensive.

Ideally those coming by train or coach or whatever are best off staying in Manchester, and those driving as close to the venue as possible, to be honest.
