Do you want the short version of the story, or the long one?

Short version - http://www.myspace.com/ovulation - "Post-natal punk from Derby, UK"

Long version - I recently had a MAD weekend in the West Midlands. Friday night, went to a gig in Birmingham ( http://www.mjhibbett.com ) and ended up drinking with the band. Saturday, spent most of the day at the UK Pinball Show in the Holte Suite at Villa Park. Saturday evening, caught a coach to Leicester for another gig ( http://www.7secondsoflove.com )

Now, I was wearing a WE VALIDATE T-shirt I'd bought at the gig the night before, which was a natural ice-breaker and got me talking to some interesting people. One of them was Beth, who is a member of The Mothers (a punk band from Derby). Their Unique Selling Point? They are called The Mothers because they are all mothers. Because I was drinking with the die-hard 7 Seconds of Love fans, she asked if I could introduce her to Joel (Veitch, lead singer) because they wanted to play a gig with 7SOL.

Anyway, I got the chance to introduce Beth to Joel later, and then after the gig had finished it was another hour or two drinking with the band....

Like I say it was a mad weekend! So check them out on MySpace. I'm currently trying to get them a gig down here in Cambridge...

@ Merman - sounds like you had a cool time out there - thanks for telling me about it. :) I've heard Matrix talk about M.J. before in conversations past. So they are not called the mothers for nothing - that is quite sweet! Will check out your myspace for more details...lots of reading going on now........

I'm listening to Robbie William's latest song - he's a real hoot!
