Well I guess my take is different as a sort of "laugh at myself" since I'm not right wing and I moderate a GM fan site where people are frequently vocal on the issue of changes to cars and making them smaller.

In fact, I fully support most of what Congress is doing, and I love funky small cars....so I just find it...funny. Just like a parody of anything else I might like...does that make sense?

I drive a Suzuki Station Wagon, and am a big proponent of bringing more cars like the Suzuki WagonR to the states:

So I find the hysteria over small cars amusing, and I hope that all of this hyperbole will in fact pad the landing for smaller cars in the US.

Perhaps it's not a right-wing thing, it's libertarian thing. I just don't get it myself, for me a cars is a device to travel from A to B. So when people think a car must have seventeen seats, fifty cup holders and weigh 3 ton, I think they are a more than a little selfish and shortsighted.
