Another case of stolen work

A youtube user has kindly let me know that a copyright claim popped up after uploading a video containing a remix of "Sweet", made by Gibs and myself (http://remix.kwed.org/?search_id=4535). Apparently some guy named Jordan Gold has released an EP called "Forgotten Dream" which contains our remix of Sweet, as well as Piano versions of the same source tune. He is even trying to sell it on iTunes and other sites.

Here's the tune that he has claimed copyright over: http://www.rhapsody.com/artist/jordan-g ... -death-mix
It seems that the track called "Alternative Edition" is the same tune also.

Here it is on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/forgo ... d623980587
Apparently it's been on iTunes since March 2013.

Found a facebook page for it here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Forgotte ... 6400806513

It's also on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Jordan-Gold/e/B00 ... =UTF8&sn=d

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume he didn't get permission from Bjerregaard to use his composition either, with regards to charging money for it.
What do? :|

So is the entire EP versions of Sweet, one of which (the main track) is your remix?

Could you list here the tracks on the EP, who composed it really, who performed it, and the original URL if there is one?

All four tracks are versions of sweet. Two of them include me and gibs' version. After a bit more investigation 8) it seems that the other tunes are made by remix64-remixers as well.

Edit: I found the full tracks on spotify here: http://open.spotify.com/album/4Rm0ChuiWidREydDmCVyyL

All tracks were originally composed by Johannes Bjerregaard (they all contain/are rearranged versions of sweet.sid).
Track 1: Forgotten Dream (Main Theme) is actually "Sweet (True Love Remix)" by Intensity (http://remix.kwed.org/?search_id=3022).
Track 2: Forgotten Dream (Alternative Version) is actually "Sweet (feat. Gibs)" by Mordi (http://remix.kwed.org/download.php/4535 ... ibs%29.mp3). The length is a bit shorter. My track is 5:57, his is 4:04. He has edited the length down a bit.
Track 3: Forgotten Dream (Love Piano Theme) is actually "Sweet on a piano" by Vred (http://remix.kwed.org/?search_id=4829).
Track 4: Forgotten Dream (A Long Painful Death Mix) is an edited version of my tune. At about 4:30 it's edited so that gibs' guitar part starts again. That's why it's longer. 7:32 long.

Right, comment written on Facebook page. Let's see where this goes from here.

I suspect that only Johannes or yourself can file DMCAs though: which is the only thing that would get the stuff forcibly withdrawn.

The forensics on who this is are here:

https://www.facebook.com/chris.abbott.9 ... 1089661377

Seems to be a possibly Hungarian chap up to no good and using Hong Kong as a base (though that's probably fake too).

It's a lot of trouble to go to to rip people off.

I can probably file a complaint. Not sure how though.

Edit: I like this whole facebook CSI investigation group that has formed here.

Edit 2: He has an artist page on facebook with 700 likes. https://www.facebook.com/jordangoldofficial
Read this heartwarming blog post about the making of (?) Forgotten Dreams here: https://www.facebook.com/notes/jordan-g ... 1794325853

I googled DMCA and this came up: http://www.dmca.com/signup/?lnk=4
I don't want to pay to get it removed - I find that ridiculous. I guess they're offering a service... Would be last resort anyway!

I thought DMCA was just a form to fill in that you could download. Facebook has an online form you can submit free of charge somewhere in the "help" section (probably in the "report site" set of links).

I can't see those other links since I unfriended him. Maybe it's time to try and crowdsource justice? We've established there's no way the guy has any sort of conscience about any of this, and thinks he's above the law. Perhaps a YouTube video explaining it?

Did he delete the album page?

He seems to have deleted his album and artist pages.

Edit: He has also removed pictures of himself on Amazon.

Edit 2: Also, Jordan Music Co. Ltd. seems to have been dissolved on facebook?

Edit 3: He's deleted all of his tweets on twitter as well, and his profile pic.

Hmm, OK. Let's keep an eye on Amazon and iTunes in the next month to see if they disappear. If he withdrew the album through his aggregator, it will take a while for them to be pulled.

The EP is still on Spotify/iTunes/Amazon. I sent him a message on facebook, asking to remove the EP from all of the sites it exists on.
