Well ,it is a kind of a remake i think
Story and everything else reminds me a lot of SHOGUN
with Richard Chamberlain

I have to say, I didn't actually enjoy it that much. Don't know why, it had all the right ingredients in it. Swords, guns, raging battles and a beardy hero. Just felt slightly too much like an oscar grandstand to me. My ten cents.
Bleh, roll on Kill Bill vol.2.

The movie IMHO is pretty cack. Great start to the film but never carries through. It's long long long, drawn out and doesn't really go anywhere. Be prepared for criminal use of stringed slow-motion sections and nods to certain epics that aren't returned. Some parts are directly lifted from James Clavells 'Shogun'.
Should have been brilliant but caters too much for the female audience. I wasn't disappointed, I was bemused by the waste of a great opportunity for Asian legend.
