SID to MIDI

Post by carlsson »

I just found an alternative way to not only do automated SID conversion, but adding an "original" touch to it at the same time. Rather than using SID2MIDI which tries to be as exact as possible, I generated a WAV file and fed it into a WAV to MIDI converter, in this case AKoff Music Composer which is available in a shareware version since a few years ago.

The result is.. not that bad, much like how an intermediate, maybe slightly intoxicated keyboard player would try to follow the SID playing and sometimes put his whole palm on the keyboard when (s)he is lost. Some SIDs work better than others to convert. Anyone for a good laugh should try it - btw: it should work with digi SIDs too. :-)

Digital ear (http://www.digital-ear.com/) have in IMHO the best wav2midi out. It was only released last year and can provide stunning results, especially with wind and string sections.
