As previously announced, here it is:
Thrust, one of my all time favourites.
(Hey Kenz, that was a very good guess!
)
There have been some good versions of this song already, but I tried to get all the dirt in that made Rob Hubbards tunes and his style so unique.
As long as upload at RKO is disabled, download here:
http://home.arcor.de/panamaspeed/music/ ... Thrust.mp3
and give me loads of feedback, please.
As you see I produced on a Nuendo System
and almost all further equipment is shown on the pics:
- - Yamaha Bass
- Ibanez 7-String Guitar
- Korg Pandora Guitar-FX Processor (this tiny blue box next to the trackball)
- Line6 Spider 1x12 Amp
- Shure 55 SH-II Microphone
and half a dozen standard VST-Plug-Ins.
No Synths needed
Hope you enjoy it,
Bye,
Eike

Blimey, that's a bit spooky - I dunno how I guessed it would be Thrust - it just came to me from ..... nowhere!
Anyway, I'm currently giving it a good LOUD blast through my headphones and am loving this grungy and drrrrrty mix of the Hubbard classic - it kind of sounds like PPOT performing the track using Machinae Supremacy's instruments! LET US ROCK!!
Hehe, just got the end - like the little "twang" you round it off with.

nice work, i love the breaks and the lead guitar....
...but i think that the rhythm guitar dominate the whole
track, the rhythm guitar should be better placed a little
bit more in the background....
who cares, a it's a real good, fresh thrust remix...

Hey ifadeo, seems that you're really stuck in the '80s concerning your sound preferences!
Just listen to recent (New)Metal (I hate these classifications) Productions and you know what I mean.
(Testament - "The Gathering" is a real benchmark for me in this field)
This is not the Scorpions!
Nevertheless, thanx for you comments!

Well,
I am not a big metal fan at all and I know why when I look at my level meter which very rare changes a led, constantly showing 0db hot spot.
Anyway this is by far my favourite Thrust Remix. Why then ? Using real instruments and keeping more than the spirit of the original SID. It sounds like Rob must have wanted to sound it like that
Keep up the work, Eike ...

although i'm not a big fan of guitars in c64-remixes, this remix is very good!
before this remix i couldn't have imagined that guitars could fit in thrust.

I'm having a hard time believing that this is a one-man studio job! Great work, Elke!
It's great music, consistent and well done. We all have different tast when it comes to music (thank god, that means that not evrybody is listening to KLF
) and I think the only thing I miss in your Thrust remix is "silence"... a part somewhere in the song where my brain can think it's own thoughts instead of being hammered with distortion!
But, me (and I think Markus Schneider as well, correct me if I'm wrong) are _not_ the average listener! We're just some old antique, soon extinct, kind of listeners! There was a brief pause somewhere at 03:15 in your remix, but I wanted those 5 seconds to be more like one minute!
So... please go on hammering, Elke! Or put another way: Do it your way, and have fun, because that's what it's all about! Great remix, Romeo!

Oi! You looking for a fight, boy?!?
Great mix, Romeo. Only gripe is that I don't much care for the end guitar bit, but that's just me. =)

I knew it.... GOT YOU, Jan!
Just teasing! I love KLF!
More politically correct statement:
thank god, that means that not everybody is listening to Britney.
I don't think anyone will bother to challenge that one
Sorry Elke for littering your thread. Great remix!

yeah, i hate the scorpions too... but if it comes to metal i prefer bands like:
Tiamat, Die Ärzte, The Ramones (okay, they're punk and dead), Cradle of Filth, NIN and some more...
btw. check out the cd "wild honey" by tiamat, brilliant stuff.....

Awesome! A sweaty, dirty nu-metal cover of Thrust - and I love it! All you need now is some geek with an outrageous hairdo and a taste for leather (Makke?
) shouting lyrics full of unrequited love and heartache over the top and voila, a number 1 hit.

Excellent!
This remix reminded me of the first time I heard "RBT - Auf Wiedersehen Monty"
A very alternative and innovative interpretation
