1942 ("You Were There") lyrics

For the only reason that it hasn't been posted elsewhere and for those of you who wish to sing along (you know who you are...
), here are the lyrics to Perhaps-a-Doobie's classic
1942 ("You Were There")
Paul
You were there with my heart in your hands
Not many people would get this chance
Turned your head and then you noticed me
Then you crossed the road to embrace me
Didn't see the car till it was too late
It didn't even try to de-celerate
Giblets trickling into the gutter
I must admit that you have looked better
(Chorus)
Why did you have to go?
We could have had a perfect love
What am I supposed to do-oooo?
Without someone to love
Shoo-bab-be-bab-a-bab-a-bay
Shoo-be-de-bap-de-bap-de-bap-de-day
Boo-bap-e-day
Bap-e-day
What a wonderful world
(Chorus)
Oh, I'm filling up here, it's so emotional
Oh my god
I just want to thank all of the Commodore 64 remixes
For keeping the scene alive
Oh, I f__king love you, I do
Oh, oh this is too much
I can't go on like this
Alright, alright, stop this music now!
(Record player stops abruptly)
I should get an Oscar nomination for this.
ArgH!

I voted 1942, because the "Action Biker" remix was not an option.

Sorry about that, Makke.
Didn't include it as it wasn't listed on RKO or Boz's C64Retro site as a PaD mix.
Did PaD guest star on "Action Biker" then?

Hello!
I'm back on the internet after a few days' panic - I moved house and BT did what they do best and screwed up my ADSL access...
"Action Biker on a Unicycle" is a very small track that appeared on a mock "Perhaps-a-Doobie: The Album" advert, which I'll post for ya somewhere!
Also - thanks, Chappers, for starting this vote!

Ah. That explains it about Action Biker then.
The advert was still available on the c64retro site so I've just downloaded it - it's good. Having now heard the ad, a full version of "Action Biker on a Unicycle" would be great although I saw on the site that Perhaps-a-Doobie was having some real-life priorities to sort out so we'll see what happens in the future.

All the clips on "Perhaps-a-Doobie, the album" are at
http://www.c64audio.com/shop, somewhere down the page
Indeed, the joke is that the clips ARE the album

I forgot about those sound clips. Some great, albeit brief snippets.
A genuine Perhaps-a-Doobie album would be fun though. Any possibilities of it really happening?

Did those Perhaps-a-Doobie adverts actually get played at Brighton?
If not, let's hope they appear at some point at the upcoming London gig. Or maybe some new ones can be done?

Can't sleep!
Have a wild guess what I'm listening to now...

Yep. I caught at least one of them in the background before retreating from the exhibition.

Yes, they were played in the "background" music before the live acts started, actually.

That sounds about right.
I went back to the hotel to get changed into my shiny suit in-between the exhibition finishing and the concert starting so no wonder I missed the adverts.
Ah well, never mind. I got to hear them eventually (even if it is nearly a year later!)
