Hi...Well, okay, I am a sucker for keeping it legal (and yet I cover SID's without asking the composer...sigh)...
This one's for Chris (aka mr. Abbott, sir)...
Found this little game:
http://www.poppoo.com/games/sheep/index.php, and although the plot of blasting sheep with dynamite is funny, I couldn't help but thinking (based on the discussions lately) if the use of the Zoids music is quite legal...Obviously the game is non-profit, but...I don't know, you tell!

Well, first of all, people who cover stuff on RKO have blanket permission from the main composers to do it. So they're legal after all. And everyone else doesn't mind. It's only when there's commercial activity that I get involved.
I remember this game: it was a promotional game for some company writing these kinds of games. As such, it's a grey area. It's obviously a disguised advert for the company, but it doesn't make any money as such. Difficult.
Mind you, I don't own Zoids anyway. Larry Fast of Synergy does. As I recall they did use "Thing on a Spring", which was irritating, but harmless I guess.

I can give you some sort of letter if you really need it, and it's a piece I administer.

I had the Hades Nebula remix I did on my mp3.com page, and certainly mp3.com didn't mind (although they claim to not accept cover-versions without permission from the composer). It's not there anymore, though, since mp3.com wants me to pay for having more than 3 tracks there...Which I can't afford right now (and is against my principles, but that's a different issue)..

The creator of the games at the previous mentioned site is a friend of mine (hello Kim :), and I can assure you that he does not make a penny from the so called games. Kim just did those for a laugh, and to keep the C64-spirit alive.
(Kim is also the creator/administrator/owner of
http://www.c64.com which I helped designing some 3 years ago. We're in the progress {oh, @ a veeeery slow pace.. dum dedum} of making the next version of c64.com. Hopefully you'll be able to experience the updated site within 4-5 years or so :)

I also found some C64 remixes in a Tetris game from Miniclips.com, which I played on sillyjokes.co.uk
They were good remixes, but only a short loop of the tune (Maniacs of Noise, I think) which soon got annoying. Game's not bad, tho
