The Story behind the Pumpkin man

Post by Trauma »

I anybody should be wondering what the point is with "I'm a Pumpkin man", and if any point does indeed exist the answer is:

Yes! This tune is meant as Wake-up call for all talented game-designers that make crappy games!

"Uhmm... I don't see why... Could you explain?"

Okay. This tune is inspired by my own reactions when playing Cauldron II as a kid. It goes like this:

0:00 - 0:50 Day 1. "Wow, this is the most amazing game I have ever seen... The control is so... wow ... I mean... WOW!!!

0:50 - 1:21 Day 2. "hmmm... This is getting a bit repetitive, and I am not getting anywhere. Is this difficult or am I missing tomething?"

1:21 - 1:53 Night 2. "Can't sleep... must be doing something wrong... Keeps jumping into skeletons... What's wrong?"

1:53 - 2:24 Morning 3. "Okay. Steely determination will do the trick. I will keep on playing until i start to get somewhere!!!"

2:24 - 2:53 Afternoon 3. "F**k, F**k, F**k... Still no better that I was to begin with. GodD***!!!"

2:53 - 3:01 Evening 3. "&¤&(¤#(% ¤%&¤)"

3:01 - 3:09 Night 3. "I HATE YOU PALACE SOFTWARE! I'LL HUNT YOU DOWN!!!"

3:09-3:10 Early morning 4. (Throwing the game in the trash-can)

So if this mix is in any way annoying (Cheers BELDIN  ) it is seriously so on purpose.

If there any chance that you do a dance-remix of this track, DHS? Like with PPOT´s "Comic Bakery"?

Well, this mix is very nice. Inspiring, well done and in the usual Trauma's funky drums mix I've heard before. Nice one, really!

And Cauldron II wasn't an easy game, but sure good looking and worth the playing time. Not that I spent days in front of it, but some long hours.

Great work, Trauma!

Mahoney: in regard to your nice review (thanks).

It is "I'll be _Jumping_ you - just like pumpkins do."... So, not far from "_humping_" (which was considered, but _jumping_ has a nice double meaning in the context :-) )

This is one of the best C64 remixes I've heard, and had it been around when I compiled the 'best of' for Zzap!64 #107, it would have been at or near the top of the list.

It's so good that it actually prompted me to write a review for this site! :) Nice one.

Hey Trauma, you should really add that story to the tune's info page! :)

Yep, I thought the same when I read this. A story like that helps understanding a remix. Though, I'd like to point out that in my case it has no influence on a review or rating, since I always review as Joe Consumer.

Don't think so. It's perfect the way it is. I could only ruin it :)

Cheers.
