My style.........

Many people have mentioned, and compared me to, the style of Instant Remedy when I release a new remix.
Often the comments are of the sort "IR would have done this" or "sounds very IR, excpet for the...".
I *AM NOT* Instant Remedy. I am Sonic Wanderer. I have my own style.
I am influenced by Trance music, Synthesizer Dance, 80's Synthpop, EBM among other things.
The dancy Trance-elements along with my other influences makes the result fit in the same genre as IR, but I still think I have a "sound of my own". For example, as in the ne OL2-remix, I don't go for an "drums-all-the-way" approach. I added 1m20s of intro, to catch the feel of the original melody.
I also don't often use SID lead sound. I create my own sounds instead. Typical for IR (in my oppinion) is to use SID lead, to catch the original feeling as much as possible.
That's my way, and my style. Have a problem with that? Too bad!
Cheers!

As soon as you make something dance-able or up-beat including some SID sounds it does sound like IR in the sense that there's SID sounds in it. IR was more or less first with producing dance trax of a high quality including SID sounds and melodies straight from the SID. I guess that's why people are so keen to call it IR-ish.
It's like people who claim everything with a vocoder in it sound like Kraftwerk. I even met people who were convinced Das Boot were made by Kraftwerk even though the sound of Kraftwerk and U96 is QUITE different.
I guess it all depends on what people have heard before and can relate to. It would be like saying every heavy metal band sounds like Iron Maiden. And maybe it does "to the untrained ear".

And I thought you try to plagiate Honorabili...
No, your music sounds different from IR, but it's because you make dance and IR is one of the most-known dance-remixer. That's all...
BTW, O2 plagiates Jarre, Machinae Supremacy plagiates Manowar and Glyn R. Brown (R. = Replicate) plagiates J. S. Bach & Mozart...
Hmmm...where is the individuality of today's remixers?

I wonder too....... people just seem to relate to IR as soon as there's a fat beat involved. =)

A Sonic Wanderer - Instant Remedy comparison never struck my mind. It's two very different sounds in my ear.

I agree with everyone, I don't think SW is copying "my style". My style is in the dance genre as most people might know, but then you can say Makus Schneider is copying Glyn R Brown for making orchestral pieces and so on.
You always get inspired by other artists, but how much you even try to sound as them your music will sound different. I try to sound like Darude and Scooter, but my tunes turn out different.
Actually I had to admit that the reason I made "Last Ninja - The palace" is that I heard SW's remix and got inspired by it. They turned out pretty different, but are still in the dance genre. So then you could say I copied SW?
Too bad you get those kinds of comparisions.

Yeah, I think so too.
It must be because you were the pioneer of dance-remixing C64-tunes.
I just had to make a point to show tose people who insist on comparing, that I have a very own thing going on.
I might add that it has been the OL2-remix in particular that has caught peoples "comparison"-mood. But also the LN-Palace-remix. Cool that I can inspire the masters.
Your personal input helps tremendously. Thanks man!!!!

yep, you're so right, but you know that you got your own style and
that's the only thing that counts, in my opinion....
there always ppl who wants to sort remixes in a special catorgy, like
hmmm, there's a four on the floor bassdrum, so it must be a dancemix...
btw. i also like your remixes and i can hear it out that you have
your very own style....

Is it just some coincidence, or why did the ratings on Ocean Loader 2 drop down after this thread? SCNR

That's a damn good point you got there, DRF!
Help me remeber any remixer here(except Honorabili) who makes music that you cant say anyone else does. Like you can almost emediatly tell it when you hear it's Vangelis playing because he has his own sound, for example, but Vangelis doesnt make remixes so he's count out
Is some scene-remixer actually gonna make some revolution out there? (It aint me, I copy Party Animals
)

Just to make things clear: I was joking!
