Please dont mock me for what I type below......I am very sad right now.
Christopher Reeve was my childhood screen hero, this man has touched my life in recent years like no other celebrity could. His fight against paralysis was incredible, and his will to walk again was astounding, to have him die now of heart failure is extremely upsetting for me. The man was a true 'SUPERMAN' in every sense and will be in my thoughts forever.
This week I shall watch Superman, Superman II, Superman III and Somewhere In Time and cry my eyes out........

Why mock? He was a great man, and one of the last heroes...

It's sad to think the "superhero" became so reliant on other people... Rest in peace, Christopher. And I hope his determination and resolve sets an example to those who suffer similar injuries - and inspires the scientists whose research he promoted.

Sad indeed. I really hoped to see him achieve his goal of defeating his paralysis during his lifetime. I hope his example inspires other handicapped people never to give up, and never to lose the joy of life.

I would not mock you on this subject as I feel the same way. In fact I saw him in person when they shot some of the scenes from Superman IV: The Quest for Peace back in summer 1985 at my school in Milton Keynes. The film was terrible but I had to see it just so I could see my school and the Milton Keynes Central Train station.
It's a sad day for sure

Oh man, i hit the forum and this meets my eyes, i just stopped in disbelief, almost afraid to click it - but its true
If there ever was a superman, Chris Reeve is the closest anyone will or would have ever gotten. Like many of you I grew up watching the Superman films, running out of the cinema as a kid with my arm in the air.... donning a red bedsheet after school....
Oh man this just breaks me up

Saddening news... all his fight against paralysis in vain. Though his work will live on.

That's really depressing news. I grew up watching those movies, in fact, my first memories are of hiding behind the sofa during Superman 3 (remember the scary cyborg woman thing?). Christ, its been years since I've seen any of those.
I could never imagine anyone else as Superman.

Wonder if the original George Reeves was any relation ?
But i hold the same conviction - anyone else in the role would be a travesty - it should be left "as is"... ok, superboy, smallville etc, thats a whole nother thing, but more films of Superman.... sans-Chris Reeve just wouldnt "feel" right. Kinda like the batman films.....

I watched the first movie last night and did the moment he first stepped out of the revolving door in the costume.
Like everyone else has said, he really was a Superman in every sense and an inspiration to everyone for his courage and bravery.

The Superman is dead, long live The Superman.
