New Lazy Jones rip off?

I was listening to the Swedish radio station P3 today, when a very familiar sound appeared in a tune that was playing. The familiar tune was Lazy Jones. My first thought was "Wow, someone made a mosh-up with Lazy Jones and this other tune!" because they do that pretty often on that channel. (Mosh-up's that is, as in combine two tunes...some people call it "bootlegs", but bootleg to me is a totally different thing.)

However, when the tune had finished they didn't say anything about a mosh-up of two tunes, or said anything about Lazy Jones or anything. The tune in question was a baile funk tune, and the name of the group and the tune was Portuguese as the group was from Brazil.

Anyway, P3 almost always publish their track lists on their homepage so I waited and waited to find out the real name of the tune. The name of the tune turned out to be "Bochecha Ardendo" by a group called Carrascos.

Now I've been looking for this tune, through more or less legal channels, but can't find it! So if anyone can get hold of this tune I'd be very happy, because I don't think my ears tricked me.

And if it really is Lazy Jones in there, shouldn't Mr. Abbott know about it? Chris?

I'm going to request the tune, cus the show takes listener requests, and hopefully it'll be played at a time when I can record it.

A quick google found this: http://www.usinadosom.com.br/cd.asp?indice=33890

In what looks like Spanish, though. Seems the album is called "Os Carrascos" if that's any help.

Found a clip of it...and it most defenitely contains a straight samlpe from Lazy Jones.

I saved the clip and put it up here:

Are there still 21 subtunes in Lazy Jones? Because this one doesn't match any of them. Sure, it sounds like Whittaker, but it's got two characteristics: it's in a major key, it's got three chords, and it's got a bit at the end of the loop that goes high. There are no subtunes in Lazy Jones that match the one in the song...

i know where you coming from makke, it's very simular but there are a few changes, i don't think it's a rip, but maybe influenced from the tune (or rather maybe influenced by zombie nation).

It is damn close though

Hmmm...yes, taking a closer listen the melody isn't exactly the same. Maybe wasn't such a scoop after all. :)

However, this clip is pretty shite, but I'm quite convinced that it at least is sampled from the SID tune and then maybe rearranged. Wish I had a better recording, because then you'd hear that it really is the SID playing, and there was more of it through out the tune.

00:07 to 00:14 for example sounds a lot like sub #13, though...bit slowed down.

They probably just used a Sidstation or something.

Heh, well, that's the intelligent way to do it: the bit that doesn't lead to copyright violations :)

One thing though... it's not spanish. It's portuguese (brasilian portuguese to be acurate). Brasilians love this kind of simple stuff...also, the title means "cheek is burning"...aparently from passionate kisses or "something"...
Also I'm amazed it's not a sample or rip.off... copyright laws in Brasil are broken everytime, without problems.

Well, maybe there were no Lazy Jones subtunes which had the right chords :)
