Spellbound (Remiximus)

Hey,
I finally got round to finishing off my Spellbound mix
More effort went into this mix than anything else I have previously worked on. .
I decided to keep with the spirit of how my Human Race mix was done, in-terms of trying to create a contemporary remix without losing the original C64 spirit.
Everything seemed to go pretty well as I was recording, it was great fun layering and arranging the percussive parts. .
I always believed that the beat in the original was the most distinctive feature.
I sacrificed the ring modulation effect at the start, but brought it in towards the end as I didn't want to intrude over the strings.
The guitars were quite a task to record, I managed to include a Classical Guitar half-way through the tune, a very old one with lots of salotape on to stop the wood from vibrating *g*
Harmonies were a massive focus on this piece as well, the strings really seemed to bring together each section quite naturally.
I gave the third section in the piece a rock overhaul (-) the rectified or modern hi-gain lead distortion is probably the ultimate replacement sound for a C64 synth lead imho.

Here is a link to the remix from my band web-site:

Feedback is welcomed, hope everyone enjoys listening!
Cheerz,
