You know the tune that is in lots of old computer games, like in Lotus 2 (desert level), Rickdangerous (egyptian level, subtune 2 in the sid) and Lemmings 2 (some levels). It sounds kinda egyptian or something...
Anyone know what song this really is? I doubt it was originally made for a computer game.

it's also played in bombo (subtune 3).
the stil-entry says it's a cover of "the hootchy kootchy dance" by sol bloom.
google research reveals some other names
:
"Kradoutja" or "Hootchy Kootchy Dance" or "Hoolah Hoolah" or "The Dance Of The Midway" or "Coochi Coochi Polka" or "Danse Du Ventre" or "Kutchi Kutchi" or "Kutchy Kutchy" or "Koochie Koochie Dance" or "The Streets Of Cairo" or "The Poor Little Country Maid" - The 1893 Chicago World's Columbian Exposition seems to be the source of - at least the popularity of - this tune. Sol Bloom claimed he ad libbed it to accompany a dancer and forgot to claim copyright. It quickly became very popular under scores of titles. However! An 1857 French print of the melody has been found, that states this actually is an Algerian or Arabic traditional called Kradoutja, dating back to at least the 17th century.

Wow, quite a research!!
Thanks
Well, does this mean that the tune is not remix-able?

the bombo-subtune has been remixed 2 times, so it doesn't seem to be touched by rko-upload-restrictions...
go for it!
