Well I've started working on Master of Magic.

So far I've spend about 12 hours on it. I've got a Lead Piano and Bass line.

I started by writing down all the range of notes in which measure/bar on a piece of paper, so far one for the Main Lead and Bass Line. I can scan an image later if anyone wants to see the process. Once that entire song was laid down like that. I started going through it and seeing which parts were repeated based on Notes and Timing.

Next I started into the Sequencer/Piano Roll and inputting using my Laptops Keyboard a Pain in the A$$. I normaly use a keyboard controller when I'm at home, but no such luxury while travelling.

Sid2Ear and Paper2Midi was used in this process.

Not sure which direction I'm going to take it.

After and additional 12 hours of work I threw it in the trash bin.

I'm starting over.

I thinking I'm making this harder than it should be.

Good luck! As for the direction, what genre do you have in mind?

I'm gravitating more towards, natural instruments like Piano, Guitars, Flute, Violin etc..

Right now I'm concentrating on the Melodies/Bassline. I'm not sure if there will be any Percussions at all.

This is my first attempt at a serious C64 Remix and This is actually a first for me to go in this direction. I would normaly just go for synth sounds and come up with something really dark. But for some reason I dont get the feel to go in that direction with this song.

Hmmm..... Now I'm wondering if I should continue in this direction or do a dark synthy remix.

Hmmm...I like your way of thinking....nice and twisted too ;)

Got the Piano and Bassline redone today, and am pretty happy with it.

Playing the original SID over and over and over again, I hear certain notes here and there and that seem un-necessary and I wonder if its a result of the emulator or the way the tune was originaly programmed.

If we can hear them... they're necessary :)

Hmmm....allright I'll put in the stray bleeps and blops and see how it sounds.

Oh, those... I always heard those as metal clanking, possibly due to the armour or clanking chains.

I've got VERY good nightvision. It's fun if you are the only one to see in the dark. Which explains why nobody likes to play hide & seek with me (especially in dark cellars)

I'm going to take a break from this song for a couple of days and will return to it with a fresh mind and attitude.
