What you all reckon is the big mans best work? For me it's WARHAWK. Even thinking about it now takes me back to being under the stairs back at home (that was me computer room as a kid). Class choon. I used to get bollockings for constantly humming C64 tunes. Neeeeeew neeeew new neeeeeeew do doo do doo do ...
Them were the days.

Been a while since this kind of discussion... my vote is still for Kentilla, I think.

Weirdly you just chose three tunes where Rob was covering or inspired by someone else

I'd choose Commando. Or Thrust. Or Phantoms of the Asteroid.

I'm especially fond of Master of Magic.. which shows that the maestro had a knack of finding the right tunes to cover/get inspired by..

And I think he improved on every single one of them...

Hard to pick a single tune...
For the old-skool early player simplicity: "Confuzion" and "Up Up & Away"
Mid-term: "Thrust", "Kentilla", "Spellbound", "Master of Magic" and "Aufwiedersehen Monty" - oh, and "Phantoms of the Asteroid" and "One Man and his Droid", "Crazy Comets", "Commando" - lots of ring modulation in this era
Feel-good: "Formula One Simulator" - it was the first tune I ripped from a game
Later: "Nemesis the Warlock", "W.A.R.", "Wiz"...
Aw crap - there's too many!

I think my fav Hubbard tune is Chimera subtune #2.
That tune just loops so perfectly!

Phantoms of the Asteroid (which is why i nagged chris so much for it to be on BIT3)
you know there are only 3 voices, but at times you can hear more.
this has to be the ultimate "outstanding music in a crap game" scenario.
(this is another of the games i bought just because God did the music)
other favs .. (daft thing to say .. i dont think there are any i dont like)
master of magic --- it fits the game perfectly (ok, it repeats a bit, but He only had 3k to play with!)
zoids --- again, it fits the game spot on (as for it being a cover, the proper 'ancestors' sounds like a bad zoids cover. i much prefer the way God does it)
monty on the run --- heh heh. load game. listen. (as with phantoms, i bought this for Gods work)
nemesis the warlok --- this is an outstanding piece of music. i never had the game (so i dont know if it fit the game well), but heard it via hvsc. it is added to every remix/sid mp3 collection i make for the car.
most of the music God created just fit the game soooo well that it made the game
(try playing monty with the sound off ... its an annoying platform game)

i agree with the monty comment.. without music it was a fiddly peice of shit of a game id have rather put my wedding tackle in the jaws of jade goody than play that game without the music, the music somehow made it enjoyable.
ace 2 though has to be my favorite tune (And again another game that was trancended by the music, playing against a human opponent was as easy as collecting your radar rockets at the door, launch .. wait silently .. then suddenly to your left your friend shouts "what the fu!?" 1 nil.
also dragons lair cos it was pretty damn authentic and if u played any other version on any other system at the time the c64's version just pissed all over them and again i think rob can be partly attributed to it.
the last v8 (and AGAIN.. crap game, good tune)
and finally lightforce - not a bad game as such actually, again the music made it better and by god was that tune a marathon and more emotional than most, kinda reminds me of the sort of stuff galway was doing at the time... maybe an ode to him in some way? or even a gauntlet across the face? hehe.
