I'm applying for a Media content type of job, they want the Cover letter to be creative and they boast the fact that they love Drinking Coke and Playing Playstation for fun.

You get comfortable and the outside world becomes scary.

I was in my last job for 16 years..... Now I have re-learn how to do a job interview, I have to re-do my resume. When I do find a new job. I have to re-learn new personalties and how to deal with them.

I find the prospect of "having a job" terrifying in and of itself - I'll have been freelance for 11 years come March.

Being a freelancer is like wearing giant clown shoes in a minefield - one wrong move and you've blown it...

It seems that it's indeed a season of changing jobs, voluntarily and involuntarily.

Yesterday was my last day at the office, I left a multinational consulting company to form a small two man operation with my friend. IT consulting, user interface design, web development and all that. And hopefully more time for music too, maybe I'll get at least one remix out in 2007.

As for job security, I'm not really sure if such a thing exists anymore, at least in the IT business. Even in large companies your value is constantly being evaluated and calculated and to keep up with the development you need to invest in your knowledge on your free time.

I was freelancer for three years before working for The Man so it's not really a new thing as such. Just a welcome return to sanity after almost 2 years of TPS reports really...

I wish everybody in need good luck with finding a new job or starting a new business. My options in the next year are very rich in contrast :

Case 1: Nothing changes and I continue as an One-Euro-Jobber. Sucks.
Case 2: They secretly planned to kick me out at the end of this year. F*ck!
Case 3: They hire me for a laughable pay.

Yup, no such thing as Job Security, the days where a person would work for a company 30-40 years is gone.

Now were are all just a number on an excel spreadsheet, which they sort with whatever criteria they need to get rid of us.

I seem to have spent most of my working life trying to make this not true for me I may well have succeeded, since I can't imagine ever going through another job interview against other people...!!

hehe, can i chip with telecoms and niche software companies?!

Where i am now is the first job in a long time where i have stayed for more than 2 years! Luckily storage and security software will always be needed
