A friend of mine gave me some Drum Patterns done in MIDI Format.
I can import them into FL Studio just fine, I can play around with them in "PAT" Pattern Mode changing Tempo etc..
But when I switch back to "SONG" Mode the Tempo Defaults to whatever the Midi File was originally set to.
I tried right clicking on the TEMPO area and checking the set temp but no luck.
Anyone have ideas what I'm doing wrong?
I did play around with Temp settings and was only able to temporarily change the tempo which only lasted a few bars before going back to original Tempo.
I'm almost tempted to get my Atari 1040STE Fired up work on it on there.

Yeah I've had this problem too.Analog-X wrote:A friend of mine gave me some Drum Patterns done in MIDI Format.

I got around it by copying and pasting the whole pattern to a new block/pattern (or whatever the hell they call them in FL). It will only revert to the original tempo if you then go back to block 000 (so start YOUR song from 001).
I'm sure there IS a proper way to change the original tempo or remove the midi data relating to the tempo, by my method is the lazy bastard way of getting around it
Missed this one earlier...
1) Select the Pattern where you imported the midi events
2) Right Click on the Tempo and select [Edit Events].
3) You'll notice there is a single event for that pattern - hit Ctrl-A then [Del] to remove that event.
Now you can set the TEMPO to whatever you like at a song level (make sure you set it that you right-click and select [Initialise Song with this value] to make sure it always goes back to this tempo (if for example you change it later in the track like I did on 9 Fingers!)

Re: FL Studio - Midi Importing / Tempo Issue.
I was going to just dump the Pattern into a .wav and bring it back in as a Sample and time stretch it if need be...again not a good way of doing it.Tonka wrote: I'm sure there IS a proper way to change the original tempo or remove the midi data relating to the tempo, by my method is the lazy bastard way of getting around it

Didnt think too look at and delete the event. I did however try the "Initialise Song with this value" but it would revert back to the original temp after a bar or so.skitz wrote: Now you can set the TEMPO to whatever you like at a song level (make sure you set it that you right-click and select [Initialise Song with this value] to make sure it always goes back to this tempo (if for example you change it later in the track like I did on 9 Fingers!)
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a try.
