SID to MP3 conversion project has finished !

After 90+days, the SOASC= project has finally finished converting ALL SID's to mp3, both for the 6581 and the 8580 chips. Total size : 300 GB

Oh boy! Being the massive RealSID fan that I am I can't wait to give these a whirl! :D

Not sure about the idea of using just one C64 for ALL the 6581 recordings though (unless it just so happens to have the best SID chip in the world!) - sometimes I try a SID tune on quite a few different C64's just so I can get the absolute best "sounding" version before I record it - so this will be very interesting ... !

Hats off to the SOASC guys though, this is quite an achievement and I'm sure will be an excellent resource for SID fans.

Kenz, that's.... em.... words fail me!

But for the true purist, that is not enough! You need the original C64 used for every SID! :wink:

No, you need to recreate the exact environmental conditions in which the SID was composed, so the organic engineering of the SID chip can create magic! That means lots of second hand-smoke and programmer sweat. If you worked at System 3, you'd also need some bullshit to hand :)
