The grand old master of electronic music Jean-Michel Jarre, whose music has inspired people like Martin Galway, Marcel Donné and many others, has now released a new album called "Téo & Téa".

I haven't bought the album yet, so I'd be glad about comments from anyone who has listened to it already.

I've heard some loud "Meh" sounds from a couple of his biggest fans... though I haven't heard it myself.

I think the world has overtaken ole' Jean-Michel. He's lost Michel Geiss (unless he's back now??), and in the beginning it was the sounds that provided the unique selling point of his music. Now everyone can sound like him, and he's got nothing in reserve to make it special...

Don't let that stop you buying the album though: I'm sure it's very listenable: just not the incredible sonic bath that his earlier work was...

Sounds good, allthough the same as all clubish music but he has good arragements and stuff.

When he did Oxygene 7-13 or whatever it was, people complained about that too (not me though) He can't win, poor chap...

True, he need to come up with some totaly new stuff to be new again

Today it is hard to do something that never have been done before
Oxygene 7-13 is a nice cd, even went to a live show

This is awesome! And I'm not even a huge fan of Jarre!
Maybe that's why, actually...

JMJ is not my cup of tea anymore... I heard the Radio Version of Téo & Téa
and i was very disappointed to be honest.
The last longplay that i liked was "Waiting for Cousto" !

Yeah - I feel the same for Depeche and Erasure (my childhood hero's).

Part of you says "Give up for Chrissakes! You've totally lost it!". But then another part of you SO want's them to re-capture the magic that they once had and you carry on hoping...

For me, listening to each new Depeche & Erasure album is like seeing like a car accident. You don't really want to look, but you kinda feel like you have to... And then you feel a bit sick afterwards...

So did I when I eventually bought the CD - as the vinyl version of Waiting For Cousteau had the title track chopped and edited really badly from its 46 minute version by half :(

Still, heard the new stuff, and wasn't that convinced by it. In fact the only thing I liked of his of late is when he teamed up with Apollo 440 to re-do Rendezvous for the ITV World Cup 1998 coverage as Rendezvous 98 (even got the CD single of it..)

Unfortunately it's the only thing they know how to do, and they're too young to retire... plus, what would they do with their time? People need to keep busy.

Why's everybody here so retro and drowning in nostalgia?

Only the old stuff can bring back the good old feeling. Even if the artist imitates himself decades later, it won't be the same any more.

Be open for new things, they will bring new good feelings if you let them. And after all, today's new stuff will be old soon, and then it will give you the good old feeling again.

Nonetheless I've made up my mind, I won't buy Jarre's new album either, bc I've listened to some of the tracks now, and they all sound the same. Just Unz Unz Unz and no real substance behind it.

I still haven't made up my mind about Téo & Téa. I actually quite like the track "Téo & Téa" and think it works really well with the video. In fact, the more I hear it the more I like it (it's a grower I guess) - of course it isn't vintage Jarre (I could say it's slightly cheesy trance produced just to please the kids and sell records / downloads) ...

Unfortunately, there's not much else on the Téo & Téa album that I like - it consists of a couple of reasonable tracks surrounded by non-coherent cobblers I'm afraid.

I'm still a big Jarre fan though and am thankful he could still do at least two tracks for me to add to my "Jarre faves" list.

Same here... it's poppy and quite "revolution"ish, but it's not by any measure classic Jarre *Oxygene, Rendez Vous, Equinoxe* etc.. It's nice as background music, but it doesn't break the mold enough to be putting it on for the simple pleasure of listening to it.... as I do with Crystal Dreamscapes.

Although its not Oxygene, I'll go out and buy it.. I've only heard the one loop thats on the website.

Here in Canada JMJ Does not exist.

I agree with the earlier comments. Geiss left and sound changed.

Alan Wilder left DM and the sound changed as well. They need a team of people to do what Alan did. Shame.
