I never had a c64, and so I don't really know much about the C64 games.. but I want to try some.. so could you guys please name a few of your favorite games? Don't think music now.. what C64 games were really fun and addictive and would be still be fun to play today even for one who hasn't played it before?

Hmmm, back then I was into a lot of sports games - mainly because they were easy to turn into "social events". I got the Gold Silver Bronze-pack for Christmas one year, with Summer Games 1 & 2 and Winter Games, and they still hold up very well imo. Endless fun!

Skate or Die! was, and still is, very playable. More fun with a couple of mates. Two played Bubble Bobble is also still a favourit. Best conversion of the game in my opinion.

Blue Max, Giana Sisters, Ghosts 'n Goblins, and Platoon were games I played a lot on my own.

Also MicroProse Soccer was great (haven't played that for quite a long time, so can't really say how it has aged)!

This kind of name-dropping can go on forever, so I think I'll hold there. ;)

M.U.L.E.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M.U.L.E.

A simple game about colonizing a planet and getting away with the biggest bucks.

We had tournaments with this game on weekends. The best non-sport, non-action multiplayer game on the C64 IMHO! :D

ADDENDUM:
There is an online version here :

You can play it over the net! Got to test it out...

I Want More Diamonds(unofficial sequal to Giana Sisters) was very fun when I found it on the internet back when internet was kinda new. Awesome fun to blow holes in walls with the bazooka, not to mention the awesome music partially made by Reyn Ouwehand(mixed with another tune by some fellow)
And Boulderdash and its likes(Bonecruncher)

- Turrican II (for the groundbraking graphics and sound)
- Giana Sisters (It's Mario ... only not ... but it is)
- Hitchhikers Guide (wall of text with a lot of fun)
- Stunt Car Racer (made even better on the Amiga)
- Avenger (the classic among classics)
- Attack of the Mutant Camels (or something ... I played it a lot)
- IK+ (who doesnt love it)

... thats the ones I remember right now. I had more fun on the Amiga actually, my days on the C64 was a tad to early in my life to remember clearly.

Zoo Mania (awesome puzzle game)
Kik Start 2 (great fun with two players, or making your own courses)

If we're honest, there are loads of games which seemed great back then which are kinda cruddy nowdays. If ever I fire up my C64 (or an emulator) for games, these are the ones I go for and have stood the test of time:

1) Exolon (possibly the most underrated game of all time, in the world, ever - Cecco was a flick(screen)ing genius)
2) Wizball (persevere - it's worth it)
3) Head Over Heels (ditto)
4) Uridium (for instant gratification)
5) Buggy Boy (vroom, vroom)
6) Nebulus (um, WOW)

There's more, but I could go on fooooooreveeeeeer!

I've tried a lot of C64 games in the past year that I never got to play back in the day. Here are the ones that I thought were enjoyable without the bias of nostalgia:

-- Cliff Hanger (with his brother Coat!)
-- Paradroid
-- Rockstar Ate My Hamster
-- Little Computer People
-- Rags to Riches
-- Space Taxi
-- Mad Doctor (frustrating interface, but brilliant idea)

And here are some that I still enjoy after all these years:
-- MULE, multiplayer (Arguably one of the best computer games ever made. But find a manual first. =)
-- Archon, multiplayer
-- Impossible Mission
-- Force Seven (There are two versions out there. Find force7.t64 -- and a manual)

I still keep meaning to give Wizball a few more chances. =)

*Last ninja 1 & 2 - Mega hella awesome adventure games. You run in and out of screens. Hmm...like resident evil.
*International Karate & IK+ - Arcade VS fighting game
*The Way of the Exploding Fist 1 & 2 - First is like IK. Second is side scrolling adventure.
*Commando - Warrior upward scrolling action packed game.
*Uridium - Spaceship side scrolling action, but you choose which direction.
*Ghost´n Goblins - Warrior side scrolling action.
*Platoon - Different kind of game play for each level. Mega hella awesome!
*Yie ar kung-fu 1 & 2 - First is Arcade VS fight game. Second is side scrolling.
*Terra Cresta - Blast´em Spaceship scroller.
*Forbidden Forest - Side scrolling horror action game. First game that scared me. Haunting music.
*Combat School - Different kind of gameplay for each level. You go through combat school training.
*Rastan Saga - Warrior side scrolling action.
*Saboteur 1 & 2 - You have to infiltrate a secret base and sabotage there nuclear missiles I think it was. Mega cool!
*Bombjack 1 & 2 - Simple but funny game. Avoid enemies while collecting all bombs in screen.
*Gauntlet 1 & 2 - Action game. Choose between Warrior, Wizard, Archer or Dwarf and fight enemies.
*Krakout & Arkanoid & Batty - You are a brick and you have to bounce the ball on other bricks.
*Usagi Yojimbo - You are a Rabbit Samurai and fight enemies.
*Delta - Spaceship side scrolling action.

Ok now some games that are so stupid that you just must love them:
*Shockway Rider - You are a dude and you go on moving pedestrian walkways called shockways. You kill gangmembers and blocking citizens by throwing stuff at them or kicking there asses. The person that made this game is a genius! haha
*Bozo´s night out - Try to get home from the bar without annoy citizens, fall into pits or get caught by the police. Of course you get more and more drunk for everytime you make it home.
*Seaside special - Trespass and collect radioactive seagrass on a military beach. Then when you have enough, go to the city and throw it on citizens who look out from there windows. But they get angry "of course" and throw stuff back at you.

Ahh, man. brings back memories!
