It was funny reading about all the errors and I got the impression that these errors were picked because, they were unwanted, annoying, would pop up anytime anywhere and usually meant you lost data or something and usually meaningless.
And I learned something new that the "Guru Meditation" had ties to the Amiga JoyBoard.

I especially loathed ?LOAD ERROR back in the days when I had just a Datasette for my C64. Ten minutes waiting for the sh*t to load then that error! Had my brother tampered with the screw on the read/write head or was the tape borked? Another try... GAH!

As well as the brilliantly bizarre 'Guru Meditation' my second favourite is from DomainOS on the now ancient (but miles ahead of their time) Apollo Domain workstations:
Error 220009: 'unit will not fit thru 25 inch hatch (OS/magtape manager)'
... from the days when your tape backup unit was bigger than the operator!!
The story goes that the US marines bought several systems and found that the mag tape machines would not fit through the hatch of the submarine they were supposed to be installed in!

Did anyone notice that the Winamp CPro skinning engine displays a guru meditation on crash?
Kind of sets you in a mild mood when it happens.

....actually thinking about it - my favourite has got to be the dumbest error ever - and it had to be a PC!....
"keyboard failure - press any key to continue"
