Going back to my roots!!

Post by Doddsy »

I've decided to go back to my roots as it were and start playing the Trumpet again. It got me interested in playing and performing music. Hopefully in the future it will be incorporated into my remixes I never liked brass sound from synths no matter how good they are!

Thing is though, its been nearly twenty years since I picked one up so will I be able to master it again?? :duh:

Doddsy,

How are you getting on with the old Trumpet playing?

I tried to play one the other day and could only produce the attached sounds :hysterical:

It's all coming back to me slowly though its a bit like not walking for a long time and then you have to, you know what to do but your legs think otherwise!

Got a great Amiga Remix I'd like to have a go at when I finally get to an aquired level of playing skill; Sly Spy Secret Agent.

After a few weeks of practise I can happily say that I got my playing to a standard that will feature in my remixes. So look out for my up and coming remixes with my newly found skill! I already have some ideas that will benefit from this sound for future c64 remixes and I've just been putting the finishing touches to my Amiga remix of Sly Spy Secret Agent. Here is a teaser!

Cheers Analog-X64!

Can't wait to try and get this one released! This time off has let me brush up on my Guitar and Brass skills and now I can (attempt) go to other musical areas that I wouldn't have been able to if I'd have just stuck with my trusty synths!

Good stuff there, Doddsy. My ears are looking forward to your mad brass skillz being applied to C64 remixing as well. :)

Should have a new remix featuring my trumpet playing skillz in the next few weeks. Hasn't been easy though the trumpet is pitched two semitones down from your piano standard pitch which means everything has to be transposed for the trumpet. I've had to thicken up the brass sound a bit with some synthetic brass as it sounds a bit weedy on its own. If anyone has any tips on recording brass I'd welcome them too!
