A miniscule mystery

I wonder how many studio owners actually bothered to automate the Studiomaster mixers with their 64s, particularly given the review of the software:

Zero would be my guess, though who can say nowadays with this retro' thing going on. I bet somebody somewhere's got a C64 doing a lot more than SID work today.
(But I'd bet anybody a good dinner that it'll always be zero in regards to the ZX Spectrum version of the software.)
And can anybody source a copy of the tape?

And I also wonder why people would spend, even now, in excess of £15 for the little widget to daisy-chain their C2Ns. I thought all they needed to do was plug the second one into the socket inside the first and they could reliably copy away to their hearts' content. I thought saving money was the whole point.
