Well, at the moment, I hear a lot of commodoresque beeping sounds in current pop music... the sad thing is that even the artists might be not aware of it as it is just a gadget in their music.

The Roland Juno 6 has many C64-ish sounds to it, as evidenced by playing the '1942' MIDI music through my VSTi of it!
Of course the classic synths sound smoother and fuller than the SID does, but put the two together and you get a real sonic experience.
I was thinking of buying a secondhand Juno HS-60, which is itself a home version of the Juno 106, which itself is a MIDI-fitted Juno 6 (more or less). Although I have a faithful emulator, there's somehow little to beat with the original hardware. Any real synth looks good on the wall too (

Talking of which, litigation has now been filed in the German Courts against Zombie Nation for the theft of Lazy Jones from David Whittaker. It was filed a couple of days ago in Munich.

I think I heard better remixes of Lazy Jones around here...
Funny side effects: There are fan boys out there that claim Zombie Nations version to be the original and Lazy Jones the copy... quote: "Release year? What release year?! Don't get technical on me! It's obvious that Lazy Jones is the cover because it sounds like shit..."

Aah, those drugged-up ravers!
I'm not surprised they assume cover-versions of classic tunes to be sh*t, just look at that grotesque Strawberry Field Forever cover from 1987 for example. I think that helped kick off the whole abysmal cover versions movement...

wasn't it settle down ages ago with a private agreement between David and the ZN dude?

That contract was only the START of the problem. Nothing in it gave him the right to do what he did: i.e. claim to own the piece, stop David being able to grant licences for other people to cover it, and cutting David out of the royalties. And, in fact, what ZN did was illegal under German law. It's basically like letting someone rent your house and coming back to find they've claimed ownership and put armed guards round it.
