There's a nice little article in my current issue on using a SID VSTi, amongst others, to create very 80s-sounding synth music. Infuriatingly, there's no article online but their website says the next issue will feature more retro-sounding soft-synths.

To counterbalance the lack of an online article (unless I feel like uploading the scanned pages when the issue is out of print), here's this pleasant enough sound archive: http://www.webuser.co.uk/forums/showfla ... n/0/page/0
Just what I like in a chiptune: http://8bitcollective.com/music/auto-ch ... t+song%29/ !

(On the subject of that, my own little chiptunes are nearly ready, so those of you who like my bits may be vaguely interested. My registered Youtube fanbase exploded by a mammoth 100% this week (new total: 2) and things seem to be going quite well with a Roland Dimension D I bought recently.)
