I can't find any hyperlinks, but I know that there was a record out in the 80s with a few C64 game themes on. If I remember rightly it was made in conjunction with a magazine and if you wanted a copy you had to post a coupon. Rob Hubbard was also somehow involved.
There was also an experiment to release software on an LP, but it proved too expensive and difficult to load. (I think that was on the Spectrum though)
But one thing I can provide is a copy of the
Your 64 flexidisc which introduced the wonders of the Music Maker:

In the 80s, in Eastern Germany they distributed software on vinyl and even on FM radio for their
robotron computers AFAIK.

That reminds me of a television show here in England which transmitted short data recordings across the closing credits of its show.
However, success was muted by the fact that only tiny programs for the likes of the VIC20 were viable. This on top of the fact that many off-air copies were faulty because people would place the tape recorder microphone beside the television speaker. This meant that copies lacked clarity and were contaminated by CRT buzz as well as other outside sounds.
Still, good idea though and was an early incarnation of downloadable material which was accessible by a mass of computer owners.
