By a coincidence I just noticed that Retro Gamer is available on the iPad (link). Oddly enough I can't find any word on it on the Retro Gamer website, their blog, or even the forum. It's almost as if they don't want people to know it's there.
Anyway, since I'm not keen on subscribing, and the closest newsagent that has the dead-tree version is an hours commute from here, I thought I might give the pixelated version a spin. Anyone tried it?

Re: Retro Gamer on the iPad
Retro Gamer subscription was my Christmas Gift.
Only a few news stands here carry them, and its a hit and miss if I can find a copy, and its more expensive than subscribing.
And even subscribing is still very expensive. I could buy an XBOX 360 for what it costs me to subscribe.

Re: Retro Gamer on the iPad
Through twitter I got hold of a couple of people who told me that the issues causing the lackluster reviews on the UK iTunes Store have been sorted with the latest update. So I caved in and got the app, currently bundled with issue 84. And quite nicely done it is, too.
So far my only technical gripe is that while you can zoom in quite a bit, the app has a fixed zoom level that it reverts to when you let go of the screen. But it's still perfectly readable at that level so I mustn't grumble too much. Much more annoying that you can only purchase issues from 62 onwards. Hopefully they'll sort that out later on.
Oh, and I so need to purchase issue 81 too. There's a ten-page story on Julian "Laser Squad" Gollops work.
