I'm always seeking for quality samples. VSTs or Wave would be nice! So where do you get your samples from? Maybe this thread could be used as an overview of links leading to different samples and VSTs.
I guess you already know them, but nevertheless here are some links:
Top Audio Samples (142 links - millions of samples... )
VST Planet
VST 4 Free
Free Plugin List
KVR Audio
Hitsquad Musician Network
Do you have any recommandations for me?
Especially I need VSTs or Wav for Elektro, E-Funk (samples like moog used in his tracks) and Chill-Out, but anything else is welcome, too.

Re: Where do you get your samples from?
I usually get mine from magazine cover discs (such as Computer Music), BBC sound effect records from junk shops, some downloads and other misc. finds or I make them myself.
Like these....
C64 samples: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7594
Organs, Sound Expander and 78s: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7774
I sampled a Lowrey organ the other week and I think I'll put some of that up in due course. I also found on one generic sound effects CD a whole host of Warner Bros. sound effects. I recognise many from the Road Runner or Bugs Bunny cartoons I watched endlessly as a boy.

Re: Where do you get your samples from?
I'm still seeking for electro samples, especially drums, zaps, lasers, blips, synth basslines and of course strings and pads sounding like they're directly from the outer space. I prefer VSTi's, but high quality wave files are also really welcome, especially drums and zaps. Also funky basslines, synth basses and strings are needed. Recommendations are highly appreciated! Thank you!
Re: Where do you get your samples from?
Music Radar have a nice free sample area. Probably 100 packs across the entire style spectrum. ( each pack usually has at least 50 samples )

I regularly trawl there .. Use the arrow keys at the sides of the images to scroll through the genre's.

Re: Where do you get your samples from?
Well.. I try to use my own samples, created by myself when I use any... but I use mostly drumsamples these days, and I paid that small fee needed to download all from this page:
http://samples.kb6.de/downloads.php
I've not found any other site with more drumsamples of drummachines and synths than this site.
If I need something very peculiar, I just search for it on Google... usualy something pops up.

Re: Where do you get your samples from?
http://kunz.corrupt.ch/home offers some very good free VST's especially the tal-noisemaker for some weird fun or basslines
http://www.contralogic.com/vst-plugins/ can also be suggested. im using the feldspar + ptero alot lately, good stuff indeed. spar is more bassy while the ptero is more stringy~ for a short overview.
edit: http://www.hgf-synthesizer.com/synthsmachines.html has some free versions of their synthies wich "come directly from outer space" if you still look for something like that serenity, ultraswamp, scapeswizard i.e.

Re: Where do you get your samples from?
Yes, I already noticed those VSTi's and I like especially the VSTi's by H.G. Fortune. Unfortunately they are mostly unsuitable for creating spacey melodies. But they're good for creating soundscapes.
2 years ago I donated some money to get all the drum machine samples from KB6. In my opinion most of the samples lack in quality. But indeed, there are a lot of good ones. It would surprise me if it wouldn't be like that, considering the quantity of samples.
Still searching...
I would also spend some money to get a good VSTi, if this VSTi has the samples I need. But it shouldn't be too expensive, I don't want to spend thousands of Euros. But I know that really good and useful software usually is not for free.
