Obviously Project Galway has been a hugely good thing for SID fans: we were able to get Galway's SIDs recorded from Galway's SID and add in hidden and unreleased tunes.

But that begs the question: what about Project Hubbard?

Well, frankly we don't know.

1) We don't have Rob Hubbard's C64
2) We don't have his source code
(both are now lost forever)
3) There's no unreleased SID stuff to find.

So is there a point? If we recorded his music from a good SID chip (such as Martin's) would that still be worthwhile? Is having a good CD of Hubbard SIDding enough of a reason to do it? Because the compelling reasons for Project Galway just aren't there with Project Hubbard.

We don't know, so there's a poll. We're not wedded to a particular outcome, so this one really does matter!

It definitly wouldn't have the same magic to it as the Galway CD. Personally, I'd probably buy it...I have this thing for dodgy CD's to show my friends. However, I don't think it would be as well reseaved as Project: Galway, and probably even be seen by some as another cheap trick to make money...I don't know, I was never good at "reading people", which is why I'm a computer nerd instead.

Heh, chance would be a fine thing. Pretty much all the discernable profits from Project:Galway go to a certain Microsoft employee with a beard living in Texas A just reward for a lifetime of service.

Right now were all basking in the opulant surroundings of a c64 based event.... the machine has had a GOOD run and ive no doubt the music will have fans for a long time yet.

BUT the hardware ages and as time goes on, it will get increasingly hard to find good machines or replacement chips - thats the nature of technology and advancement.

From a personal perspective id LOVE to see a "Hubbard Project" putting those classic originals onto audio CD from good equipment while we have access to it, and b4 it's too late - no good crooning for it when there are no more functional 64's.

Im the one who voted NO, (ducks for cover,) there was a reason why the Galway CD worked due to having his SID chip etc and working with his source codes. If you did do a Hubbard one I would prob buy it, but it would be because Id wanna read the booklet, I doubt if I would listen to the cd itself...... (oh yea, plus I was a Galway man, not a Hubbard man)

Just a dream idea: why not convincing Rob to create a(some) new Sid tune(s) (maybe with a PC+Hardsid+today tracker programs because this can be more easy that in the '80) that will be released only(*) in the CD (with the other classic music)?

* well, almost for some long time, then freely available in HVSC as sid.

Agreed... I don't see a need for a Hubbard CD either with just the old stuff, but woith new materiel, it would be something different...

and yet ppl complained when he did that on stage - played stuff we didnt / haddnt heard b4.... curious....

A minority complained, or went on instinct... Not so curious after all...

Personally I enjoyed the whole performance - hell, I play synth too and theres no way in hell i can remember what i composed at school 20 years ago, let alone play it !! lol

I actually thought it was great to hear stuff i hadn't heard before.

Personally, Hubbard could've played a ukulele standing upside down in a clown hat and I would've enjoyed it just as much - I mean, hey, this was ROB HUBBARD playing LIVE!!!
