(According to February 1989's Home And Studio Recording, just two of his tips are to tailor your recordings to the reverb you choose first and to tailor the self-made samples to the music being recorded. Obvious but so often overlooked as samples are more something we buy nowadays.
I've often followed the second and I can say the 'kit parts' of sound really do become seamless in the mix. Amazing man.)

I had a listen and I have to say for the two songs that he composed on SID, it was almost like he was trying too hard to cram everything in, and as a result it suffers somewhat.
With other hardware he seems to be more in tune with what it can do and it's more about the composition instead, which is how I'd have probably approached it.
Still worth a listen though!
