I certainly don't think you're alone. Back in the day I recorded over 20 c90 tapes full of demo tunes downloaded from Compunet.
In fact, I couldn't face throwing them out so I worked out where the tunes were in the HVSC and made playlists for each tape.
Now that has to be pretty sad
I used to have my own "sequels" to the DATAHITS tape. Recordings of fave C64 tunes, and even recorded some in stereo due to the bizarre fact that sampleplayback would output exclusively from the AUDIO-IN port on the DIN-audio connector !
Later on I really went to town with C64 sid recordings when I got the use of a rackmount FX unit for a while (this is long before I "seriously* started writing music with expensive hardware)
Think it was an Alesis Midiverb FX. I recorded an FX'd version of the Miami Vice ethereal tune that was to die for, I tell ya!

Re: who else has done this ?
I'm fortunate enough to have an MP3 player in the car, So I’m pretty much listening to C64 remixes all the time, drives the wife up wall mind.Steve B wrote:i have just sat and recorded a C90 (i think its my 4th) of SID

Done it. Several times. On many systems.
If you're sad, then tell me what myself and everyone else who bought Project: Galway are?Steve B wrote:does anyone else do this or am i sad ? ... i dont think i am sad ..

It's not sad at all. The sad bit comes when you are sat in traffic with the tunes blasting out and you notice a group of nice young girls about to walk past your car window. It's then when you have to switch over to Radio 1 to hide your embarrassment and pretend to be cool. The thing is the sids are better than most crap on the radio
When you start to make covers and CD jewel cases for downloaded Remixes then you have reached the next level
Just dont give them silly titles like Rob Hubbards greatest hits Volume 1.
