I'm a Sound Designer, Vintage Synth Specialist and Electronic Design Engineer by profession. I'm a huge fan of computer generated music and have been collecting Amiga Tracker tunes since 1989. I'm especially fond of the early modules such as Karsten Obarski's classics eg. Rallyemaster & Amegas (which is usually considered to be the first module ever written) onwards to around 1993. Romeo Knight, Karsten Obarski, Bjorn Llynne & Chris Huelsbeck are my heros….

 

I've been collecting and restoring vintage studio gear since 1990 amd now own a substantial amount of equipment, including probably one of the only surviving Novachords in Europe, the worlds first polyphonic synth released in 1939, weighing 500 pounds with 163 vacuum tubes featuring ADR envolopes, a full divide down architecture and resonant filters!

SOME COMMENTS ON THE ORIGINAL AMIGA ST-01 SAMPLE SET:

One of the things that is hardly ever mentioned is why early modules sounded the way they did. This was mainly due to the samples being derived from what are now practically collectors items but at the time were current pieces of studio gear:

Roland D-50 - Now a very desirable classic synth was the source of a substantial number of classic ST-01 samples eg: Shamus Tinewave Call Heaven DigiHarp Nightmare Hooman Licks Outlaw RingPiano Touch Voices and many others..
Yamaha DX21 - Cheap 4OP FM synth but the source of many classic samples eg: Monobass DXbass MetalKeys PopBass Heifer
Roland JUNO-106 - Various strings and Pingbells - this superb analog synth is still loved by the dance fraternity
Casio CZ101, cheap but with much character eg: SineCZ and FaeryTale
