Remix News, January 2025

03/04/2025

In case you missed what was released on RKO and AmigaRemix.com in January 2025, the latest edition of Remix News gives you a summary of it all! With a total of 19 releases in that month alone, it was a great start of the year!

And yes, yet again we've fallen behind with the Remix News, but we are hard at work to catch up! 🙂

Remix64.com and SLAY Radio would also like to grab this opportunity to thank Mordi and Lea for being the tireless creators of Remix News for the past 5 years and for starting Remix News in the first place! Your efforts were much appreciated, and we'll do our best to carry on the fine tradition you've started and now handed over to us. Thank you, Mordi and Lea! ❤️

Listening Recommendation

 Vendetta

Arranged by Chris Holm

Thank you Chris. Thank you for not destroying an absolute classic piece from Matt. The original tune was deep and atmospheric, and this tune is done in the style Matt may have wanted to do but couldn't due to c64 limitations. The male monks borrowed from Enigma really sharpen and highten the density to the Nth degree. The tune is on my playlist and in my MP3 player, and there's no higher recommendation than that. Keep it up.

 Cybernoid (Unknown Ambient Level Mix)

Arranged by FTC

Nice ambient piece starts to kick in, reminding me a lot of those under the sea type TV documentaries that you see on television. All very nice, and all very nice sounding too, but you can't really recognise the cover parts of Cybernoid. The instruments that actualy make it sound like the C64 are so low down in the mix that you can't really hear them too well in parts. It's a very very loose cover indeed, probably too loose in places for it to be justified as a C64 mix in the first part. FTC must have realised it himself as about half way through there's a part that sounds much more C64-like that breaks up the ambience. However, overall I'm just not sure about this one. On the one hand, it's a different idea and I applaud him for that. On the other, I'm not sure whether it actually works best as a C64 mix or as a standalone piece of music in its own right.
