Remix News to Help You Vote

06/01/2025

With the ROTY voting deadline less than 2 weeks away, it can be overwhelming to listen to everything released on RKO and AmigaRemix.com in 2024 - in fact, with over 200 C64 and Amiga releases, it's next to impossible. Worry no more - Remix News is here to help you! Each monthly episode of Remix News contains a short excerpt of everything released that month (plus a Spotlight track in full). The last few editions of 2024's Remix News will be released in the coming days, too, and thankfully SLAY Radio has a playlist full of them. So, go to the link below and check out the playlist - hopefully you'll find it useful to help you decide who to vote for!

First Preview Track of Reformation 5

04/12/2024

Although Matt Gray's Reformation 5 has been fully funded on Kickstarter over 2 years ago, for various reasons (including personal hardship) Matt has been slow with progress on this album. But today he posted a preview of a track from it on SoundCloud, which happens to be a reworking of the Last Ninja 2 Central Park In-Game Theme, the original of which first appeared on his highly acclaimed Reformation - Last Ninja 2 album.

Listening Recommendation

 End Sequence (Thanatos)

Arranged by Eivind Sommersten

Let me just start by saying that I thought Glyn R Brown was behind this tremendous remix. You’ve outdone yourself Eivind, and then some. A short but emotional original by DRAX has been elevated to new heights. Expertly broken down into 3 parts, the initial introduction with a fantastic brass lead guides you towards an unexpected and spellbinding vocal section that leaves a lasting impression. When the percussion with its heft and weight joins in with that guitar solo, I was carried away. With the choir chants at the end, I wanted more but realised we had reached our 4 minute limit. The mix is exceptional, everything is perfectly balanced, with depth, lightness and is epic when it needs to be without sounding overbearing. I was blown away when I heard it for the first time and it keeps delivering on (many) repeated listens. For a guy that commits awesome acts of funk on us RKO listeners, it is clear you are capable of so much more. Just amazing.

love the guitar in the background…just adding that little pad-ish sound that makes it whole.
Overall a tremendously good remix.
Love it.!

 Turrican 10 Anniversary edition

Arranged by Tony Fluke73 Wiren

Tony streams regularly and engages very well with his audience. He is really good at playing by ear and provides a weekly event to look forward to. If you like retro gaming music from the 80s and 90s you can't go wrong!.
