Merregnon: A world full of mystery, intreague, and adventure. A world of Dragons, Magicians, and damsels in distress. You know the story. The story of honour, valour, and virtue. A story we all secretly live in within the heart and minds of ourselves. Have you ever asked yourselves,
Wouldn't it be great to live in such a world.? Merregnon is that place, and the soundtrack helps recreate that dream we all hold in our imaginations.
The story follows Gallahadt's adventures within the world of Merregnon, his aim to vanquish the dragon, Madostror'skar and rescue Selina from the clutches of its grasp.
The dream of a soundtrack which follows the story line of Merregnon was realised by Thomas Boecker and Fabian Del Priore (Main Composer). Setting out to create an epic CD based on the fantasy world of Merregnon they recruited a staggering line-up of talented musicians. Musicians that almost definitely need little introduction. Famous for their work on the demo scene, and games industry you have: Allister Brimble, Jason Chong, Gustaf Grefberg, Olof Gustafsson, Markus Hollier, Joigier Liljedahl, Rudolf Stember, Jonne Valtonen, and the biggest of them all Chris Huelsbeck.
Many of these can attribute themselves to the C64, others came through from the Amiga.
Merregnon is the first of a trilogy of CD's, each CD will attempt to better it's self, and evolve. Although details of Merregnon 2 are sketchy and understandably vague. However when news happens you can be sure we'll be covering its every step.
A few words from the Composers:
It was quite nice to have enough time to think all the themes and other stuff thru.
It was so nice to work on the project and everybody was very co-operative.
I don´t listen a lot of music anymore, but I recently noticed that I´ve been playing merregnon CD quite a bit 😊- Jonne Valtonen
They had listened to my songs and asked me, whether I want to participate
on Merregnon. And of course I wanted…
We always got short excerpts from the book by mail, so we could imagine
what was supposed to happen in our song.
I think it was a fantastic project, completely different from writing- Markus Holler
music for a game. I wouldn't want to miss this…
The whole project really exceeded my expectations.
We agreed that a special medley of theLight at the end of the tunnel
- Chris Huelsbeck
soundtrack would make for a nice bonus track.
The CD turned out very well I think. It is interesting to hear a theme and style agreed on,- Gustaf Grefberg
but at the same time having it reflect the different composer's styles. It makes the styles
stand out even more, and you can hear how different they work and think. I enjoy
listening to music and figure out how the composer thought and felt while making it.
