When I'm a performer of music, I'm a rocker, yes I am. Sometimes I feel like my remixes are a bit too old sounding, but I can't do them (good) in any other way. My favourite music, as a listener, is of course rock music (preferably classic rock), but mainly jazz and classical music (Allan Pettersson, Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Mahler, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Buddy Rich, (just to name a few)). My old remixes had sampled drums (from Black Sabbath, King Crimson and my own cymbals) because I couldn't record my own drums properly. Now I'm an owner of a Zoom R16 and I can't believe how good this machine is (for the price). I bought a couple of good microphone preamps along with it, and now I can record everything (except C64 sounds, to which I'm using QuadraSid) as it sounds. I have a Slingerland drum set from the 60's, a Vox AC 30 (used with lots of different pedals) to which I alter between a Chinese guitar with TV Jones pickups and an American Fender Strat. I use a Mexican/Japanese Fender Precision Bass and a (of course Japanese) Yamaha Electone B-45 organ from 1977. When I mix the sounds together I use Cubase LE 5, together with some free VST plugins. Now I finally feel that my remixes sound as they should. Not that I don't like my old remixes, but now I have a better ear and (as I mentioned) the things to make it sound as I want. But, of course, the day after I've uploaded a remix, I always hear something that could sound better. But that's the way it is, and as long as you're not satisfied I guess it's a good thing.😊
