Story
This is my remix from the year 2000. It was my tribute to Rob Hubbard from whom I learnt so much simply by converting his tracks by ear to the Amiga in the early days of 17 Bit software, the PD company.
I loved the original so much that I decided to use parts of the c64 recording and then add my own filter, delay and reverb effects to bring them up to date. This goes to show just how good the c64's analogue sound was.. Of course there were some things the c64 could not do up to modern standards and I have replaced those parts with my own, particularly the chords and drums. In addition I added my own strings and choir to add to the great atmosphere Rob's original already had.

Vote distribution
Shouts
My vote remains the same after all this time. Its not going to change. The first RKO remix I wanted to hear. For me it meant alot. Its 2005 now. Im shouting my apprieciation now 'cos I can. Great job Allister!;)
This is in my opinion the best C64 remix ever done! I just love the original and this makes it even better.
Atmospheric, ambient, spacey, entrancing... Need I say more
This remix is 95% about the song and 5% about the remixer. That shows great respect to earn mine!
Very good one!
The ambient pads are excellent but there's too much SiD in there, if the bass and drums had more ooompff this would be #1 in the lightforce league table.
The best Lightforce Remix I`ve heard so far. Got it`s very own mood. VERY close to the red one.
The lines and squiggles are great, though this could use a bit more oomph in the mixing department. But it takes five minutes for anything to really happen, and the payoff isn't worth the buildup. Wouldn't sound out of place in a shopping mall.
Love it!
It's not bad, it could benefit from some more variation, though.
Yet another Lightforce remix! It's nothing special, but not bad either!
This is what remixes are about!

I listened once and was i was enthralled. I listened again and I was almost driven to tears.
Maybe this was nostalgia? Maybe those, almost tears, were the culmination of finding the site and hearing possibly what i'd hoped to hear. A modern beutifull rendition, without too many BANGS and WHISTLE'S, of one of my favourite Rob Hubbard soundtracks.
When playing Lightforce, Hubbards soundtrack smacked of the pinacle of his '64 writing career, it was modern to me, it was progressive, i loved the filter sounds, i loved the slow attacks of the "lead" sounds and the general organic feel to the flow of this soundtrack!
And yet Mr Hubbard hates it!
Maybe it wasnt commercial enough for him to realy apprieciate what a grand and elegant track he had created(possibly unintentionaly?)
But who am I?
Alister 's version seemed to capture all i had hoped for in a '64 game music remix at that time, and, to be honest ive still to hear any other '64 remix that makes me feel the same way.
Am i a bad listener? Do i have terrible taste in '64 game music?
Listen to this remix and make up your own mind.
Who am i to say what you will enjoy…

Just to mention: I'm a child of the very first days of Atari2600, C64 and Atari800XL. Although these days, I never played 'Lightforce'… on not any system.
Today, a few weeks ago, I heard Brimble's remake of that game music (and of course the "good old. sid", to get a compare) and instantly felt in love with it. It is, indeed, a modern remix. Still electronic, still fast and still none sort of a "chartz-like-one" you can hear all the fu****g day on your Radio… It's strictly bound to the rythmn of the original, but with more love. More love, for the old times. More in-depth. Where the music more touched your sense, your soul, than your money-bag. I think it is made with love… somehow.
But… to come to a conclusion:
If you like harmonic (Jean Michel Jarre) and rythmic tunes in a modern, fast and trancey good old way, this one is definately one you should hear!
Yet, still, I get a bumpy condition of my skin, when listening to this awesome track… 😊
Thank you, Allister Brimble!! Thank you!!
