Eivind Sommersten - Den Indre Kilde
621. in all-time charts
Cello performance by Charlot Rivero.
Kjell moved to Bergen from Sandnes around 1988 and joined my class the same year. We became good friends. At first playing football together and eventually he was introduced to the Commodore 64, where he did a little bit of coding but eventually would mostly end up making music - and a lot of it. He quickly developed his own style which he stuck to fervently, a style that has become a unique artistic legacy, the expressions of which linger among many even today - not least myself.
Unfortunately I mostly lost touch with Kjell around 1995. In april 2005 he decided to end his own life. Kjell no doubt fought inner demons, even from before I met him for the first time. Nevertheless outward he was always a very positive person, smiling and joking at both artistic critique and general banter.
Kjell's last production was a music demo which remained unreleased until after his death. The very last song in the collection was this song, called Den Indre Kilde
which means The Inner Source
.
You can read more about the original release here - I also want to highlight the comment by NecroPolo on this CSDb entry which I think is very much spot on.
Rest in peace old friend. Thank you for bestowing your inner source upon us.
