Eivind Sommersten - Hi Fi Sky

Requested by L0rd3vyL on the Slay Radio Discord channel all the way back in 2022. I've been working on it on and off since then.

This has been such a strange project, for a couple of reasons. First - the sound of the original is just mindblowing. Seriously, go listen to it and tell me that back in 1989 you could have imagined some day in the future those sounds coming out of your Commodore 64. I've read LMan's description of how it's done both on CSDB and on the original's web site (https://markus-klein-artwork.de/sid/hi-fi-sky.html) but I still don't 100% understand what's going on 😊

Second, with such a sound, what is even the point of making a new version at all? I don't really subscribe to just doing _remakes_, I feel a good remix should add something or present the original material in a new light somehow. In this case though, I spent so much time listening to the intricacies of the original that eventually I found myself having just made a recreation. Hopefully someday in the future I'll be reinspired to make an actual remix.

Lastly, the chords in the original are both complex and a little subdued, so it's kind of hard to gauge whether I've actually hit the right notes. For the main theme I landed on E7sus2 Dadd9 F#m11* E11 which reads a little crazy but it sounds good and at least to me sounds the same. An interesting challenge nonetheless!
