Story
This one covers the Scroll Machine demo version of YIP's 5th Dream About Happiness. An altered version was also used as Highscore music for BMX Kidz (as covered before by THC Flatline)

  • The Remix is all chemical stylee

  • The subtle inclusion of the wah-guitar was inspired by DHS' IK+ Chemical Stadion Mix

Still one of my favorite c64 remixes....
Loved that crazy sid madness of this track. It's so awesome weird sound!
Almost forgot about this one... This SID was magnificent, and the remix captures it's essence. SID solo sounds are even tighter though... Still, sounds awesome!
It's original, no doubt!
The orginal SID was one of a kind, and the remix is just like that.
Don't know how many years I've had this as my ring signal now, but it's many! Just love this piece to bits! (teehee, see what I did there?)
Marvelous remake... Absolute original.
The lead is a pain in the backside, but the overall effort is Ok.
It's 2017 and to me this remix is still the ultimate Scroll Machine cover. Just superb!
2023 and I still love this track!

Another super cool remix by LMan da man. This times it's a remix of a somewhat unknown SID by Yip of Pure Byte, though one of my all-time favourites. The original SID is quite distinctive and very original in many different respects.

The remix features the drum loop made famous by Prodigy on their Music for the Jilted Generation album (track 8, Poison). It's a well wicked loop and doesn't detract from the remix to say the least, it fits perfectly.

Even the lead sound in this remix is a bit borrowed from Prodigy (or Chemical Brothers in fact) but again it's not an issue as the song itself is miles away from said inspiration sources.

Some nice breaks and bits keep the mix from getting repetitive, and as in many of LMan's other remixes the humour simply shines through.

Overall a superb remix but perhaps you need to know or listen to the original SID first in order to appreciate the music a bit more.

First I met this tune in game BMX Kids in the highscore section. With all due to respect for Rob Hubbard, this SID for me seriously outshines the well-known digi GO-GO-GO tune, I loaded the game only for 5th Dream and let it loop, later recorded it on tape of course.

For years I did not hear more about Yip but one day I got a disk with the Scroll Machine demo. I was blown away again (his other tunes were stunning as well) and I really appreciated that I did not have to load the BMX game and blow it for getting to hi-score screen as soon as possible😊

After a big loop, in 2009 '5th Dream' was somewhere at the top of SIDs to be remixed for the album 'rakBIT'. I discovered LMan's remix somewhere around February and immediately removed the tune from the list. For me, there was no reason to remix Scroll Machine anymore. Listening to this highly perfected work I just heard what I wanted to hear.

I enjoyed listening to it much more than working on my remix 'skeleton' of it. It was no reason to continue work with this SID, I just sat back and enjoyed this awesome rendition.

Much time passed but it remained one of my favs even since.
