Story

Listening back, I wouldn’t change most tunes I have released over the years. Some have flaws, but those flaws are part of what makes them the unique pieces they are. And listening back to my earlier remixes, you can hear my learning curve in action.

However, realizing that my Crazy Comets remix was turning 20 (!) this year, I decided to revisit it. I always thought the idea deserved a better execution than the one I originally gave it. It sounds a little rushed and sparse.

I understand that the original remix is considered something of a classic by some. So I wanted to retain the same feel and atmosphere, going through quite an ordeal trying to recreate the original track as faithfully as possible. The percussion is pretty meticulous! Then I started to expand on the sound, while keeping the arrangement and flow intact. Doing as much as I could not to change the feel of the track.

I may have made a horrible mistake by doing this, as I am generally not a fan of artists meddling with their past like this, but I feel this idea has been dressed in a much more fitting sound suit this time around. If you don’t like it, there’s always the 20 year old version, and we can forget this re-remix ever happened.😉

Some interesting stuff I discovered was, for example, that the Speak & Spell voice doesn’t say C. Sixty. Four. It says C. Sixty. Floor. because I liked how Speak & Spell said Floor better than the way it said Four.

Classic!
A classic updated. Great work Makke.
One of my favourite mixes ever gets a great update and will now be stuck in my head all night
A classic gets a really nice bit of tweakage and sounds even better for it. The "floor" speech reminds me of Jeroen Tel doing "tree" in Turbo Outrun for the same sonic reasons, so glad Makke kept it in. Gorgeous.
Kraftwerk meets Depeche Mode meets Makke. That’s a party I wouldn’t want to miss! Great remix great work!
Nailed it again 👍
Wow! Awesome remix Marcus!
Nice
Big improvement over your original from 2002, not really my style but sounds good!
Doesn't sound modern enough for 2022, but reminds me of the beginnings of the scene in the late 90s.

20 years later and even better than the original remix. Makke changed what needed to be changed to make it sound more modern (the instruments sound better, the mix is cleaner, the vocals stand out more), but left alone that was already very good to begin with (the overall song structure, the electro rhythm, the lyrics). As a Kraftwerk fan, I really liked what Makke has done with this SID tune in 2002 - and this latest version sounds even better. (just listen to them side-by-side and you'll hear the big step up in production value.)

love the tune, just not a fan of having the vocals in here, would prefer just the tune.
